In this, our time of prayer, we come before you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with a humble and contrite heart, praying that all our thoughts at this time may be focused on our relationship with you.
Ein Tad… (Our Father…)
In our prayers this week, we remember three saints – Barnabus (an early Christian disciple, companion of Saint Paul, and who was known as the son of encouragement), the Celtic Saint Columba (known for his spreading of the gospel in Scotland and setting up a site of Christian worship on the Isle of Iona), and the lesser known Ephrem of Syria (the fourth-century deacon of the church and theologian). In everything we do may we be filled with the same Holy Spirit that came upon them, so that in our own individual way we may help to spread the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord, we pray for our world and the people in it, for more peace and less war, for neighbor’s and those with differing views to realise that despite their differences, we can all work together to make this world a better and safer place for every human being, and in doing so also make our lives more livable. You are a loving God, who wants only the best for us, a return to a right relationship with you, free from the sins that our Lord Jesus Christ died to take away from us. At this time, we continue to pray for the uncertain future in the Middle East between Israel and its Arabian neighbours, as well as for the ongoing conflict between the Ukraine and its neighbour Russia.

We give you thanks for being able to live in an environment where the climate allows us to produce food to feed the nation. Whilst our weather has not been good of late, often very wet and cold, we pray for a change in conditions that will bring some summer sunshine and warmth, to help the crops grow. Our prayers go out for the food producers (our farmers and market gardeners), those who help the food arrive safely at the shops and for the retailers who sell the food to us. May all food transactions be done in a sense of consideration, fair play and compassion to each other and the consumers.

In a world where there is such inequality in life, we pray for all those who are unwell, especially for those living in places around the world where healthcare is unaffordable or unavailable. We give you thanks for the NHS and for being fortunate in not having to pay for our treatment, for doctors and nurses, staff in our surgeries, and for all who work in our pharmacies and medicinal supply chains. We bring to you all the pressures on our current system, and how they affect the unwell people in society. We especially pray for those in hospital, or suffering at home, those on what seem to be never-ending waiting lists, and those who suffer in silence. May they be blessed by the power of your Holy Spirit.

Lord, be with us as we move through life today. Assist us to be the people you want us to be. We pray in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. Living and reigning, in the unity of perfect love draw us so to know you, to love and follow you, that in you we may find the fullness of life which knows no beginning nor end. In Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessed be to God forever.
Heavenly Father our ever present help in trouble, our fortress and our God in the calm showing concern for the anxious in times of trouble. Give strength and healing to those who are sick and courage and skill to those who care for them. Grant wisdom and clarity to those in authority and humility to us all to call upon you that we may be saved not only in this life but also for the life which is to come through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen
Lord, God our heavenly father the healer of nations and judge of all, give us grace to humble ourselves under your mighty hand throughout this time of anxiety and discomfort. We pray that you would show mercy to your fallen world. Not giving to us all that we deserve for our many sins but strengthening us to face all the challenges put in our way daily.
Let’s pray the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, Ein Tad / Our Father.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and always, Amen.

Prayers 27 May 2026

Let us listen for God’s voice in silence. In the depths of our being, let us be open to the Holy Spirit.

† In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from, and is co-equal with, the Father and the Son: Deliver us, we pray, from all sin into which we may otherwise fall, whether through our own deliberate fault, through weakness, negligence, ignorance, or error; deliver us by your working at the Creation, by your inspiration of the prophets, by your descent upon the Mother of God at the Lord’s incarnation, by your descent upon the Lord at his baptism, by your descent upon the apostles at Pentecost, by your continual abiding in the Church, and by your guidance throughout our lives.
Guiding Spirit, govern us according to the will of our Father in heaven; defend us by your truth against every error, so that we may continue steadfast in the faith you unfold for us, so that we may increase in love of you and of our neighbour in all good works, so that we may persevere conscientiously and endure patiently, firmly trusting in your grace, and so that we may at last obtain eternal salvation.
Comforting Spirit, be with us in every temptation and misfortune when we are tested and tried; grant us fortitude and recover us from the guilt or fear that may sometimes oppress our conscience and even drive us to despair. Holy Spirit, in you we find the consolation with which Christ can flood our lives. Your presence is offered to each person – may we sense that the essential has already been accomplished in us.
Indwelling Spirit, you live in every human being, and you come to place in us these essential realities of the Gospel: kind-heartedness and forgiveness. Inspire us to love with kind-heartedness and to forgive, that we may find one of the wellsprings of the promised peace and joy. Through the spirit of adoption – as children of God, as joint heirs with Christ – exhilarate our souls by bearing a testimony as to our salvation; and inspire us through your Church to mutual understanding and worldwide proclamation of your Gospel.

God of life: You have promised to be with us every day, also in difficult days, in times like these we have been experiencing with so much conflict, tension, and unrest in the world. Give us clarity in our minds and a sense of justice, solidarity with all who suffer, inward strength and commitment, rest as we sleep, peace in our hearts. In your mercy, help us to hold on to what is right, true, and beautiful and make our lives a temple of the Holy Spirit.
Help us to discern what we can offer from your love to those who are in trouble and distress; to all with troubled consciences; to all who suffer injury, sickness, or disease; to all who are in danger of losing their lives; to all who are victims of injustice and arbitrary rule, wherever they may be in the world; to all who are needy and destitute; to all who feel lost and search for a reason for being – may they find you.

Holy Spirit, you breathe upon what is fragile. You kindle a flame of life and love that remains within us, still alive under the ashes. And through you, even the fears and the nights of our heart can become the dawn of a new life. Come to make our lives this day a living sign of Christ.

† In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
