St Donnan's Church, Nostie

St Donnan's Church, Nostie We are a small church, part of the Scottish Episcopal Church. St. Donnan's is beside the A87, 2.5 miles west of Dornie and 6 miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh.

Our services are regularly led by warranted retired priests and sometimes by priests who are on holiday in the area. We have an in-person Holy Communion/ Eucharist service every first Sunday of the month and on occasion on the fifth Sunday of a month, starting at 10.30 a.m. Every third Sunday of the month we hold a service of the Liturgy of the Word (without communion) from the Scottish Episcopal

Church or the Iona Community. These do not take place in the church itself but are on-line on Zoom. Details of all services and how to access them are published on our page every week. We are a small congregation but welcome visitors of all ages who often augment our congregation during their holidays to our beautiful part of the NW Highlands.

Our next service in church on 1st February at 10.30 celebrates the feast of the Presentation of baby Jesus in the Temple, traditionally known as Candlemas. Our gospel reading describes when the Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon and Anna that this child was the one God had sent. On Sunday Epiphany ends and we turn from the crib to the cross.

We are still in the season of Epiphany, which celebrates God's glory revealed in Jesus to individuals and to the whole world.
On Monday the church commemorated the conversion of St. Paul, formerly Saul, who was on his way to Damascus to arrest followers of Jesus on behalf of the Jerusalem authorities when he had his epiphany. A light flashed and Jesus spoke to him: 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?'. The experience transformed him into a follower of Jesus.
