Hello everyone! 👋
I thought I'd introduce myself as I'm the new Curate (aka vicar-in-training) in the Welwyn Team of Churches. Alongside Rev’d David and Rev’d Nicky, I'll be serving at St Michael's Church, Woolmer Green.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know people in Woolmer Green and becoming part of the community. One of the things I love most about being a vicar is meeting people where they are, listening to their stories, celebrating life's joys and supporting people through the tougher times too. Whether you have a strong faith, lots of questions, or no faith at all, I'd love to get to know you.

Over the next few weeks I'll be popping to the playground with my own children, so if you see us, please come and say hello! It’s just a relaxed way of meeting local families while the children play. Please do drop me a DM if you’d like to meet up!

If you've ever wondered about coming to church but felt a bit nervous, I'd love to help make that first visit easier. Our Sunday service at St Michael's is at 11:15am, and everyone is genuinely welcome. There's no dress code, no expectation that you know what to do but there are plenty of friendly faces. If you'd like a friendly face to meet you beforehand or walk in with you, just send me a message—I'd be really happy to do that.

And even if church isn't your thing, I'm always up for a chat. Please don't hesitate to say hello if you see me around the village or drop me a message.

This afternoon, at St Albans Cathedral, Sulu Pike will be ordained deacon and begin her ministry as curate in our Welwyn Team of churches. We are really looking forward to her beginning her ministry amongst us. All are welcome to the cathedral at 4pm, or you can follow it using the link in the first comment. Have you ever wondered about Confirmation? There will be a Confirmation service at St Mary's Welwyn on Sunday 26th July 6:30pm. We will be running groups for adults and young people to help explore this meaningful step, running from the beginning of June. Do get in contact if you would like to find out more.

Whatever part you will play in these annual meetings, do so with huge gratitude for those who have served as churchwardens or who are offering to do so.

When you’re exploring a dilemma, listen to their wisdom. When they lead through change and difficulty, thank God for their care. When they seem weighed down, help to carry their burdens. And when you see their backs, pray for them in their busyness.
