Landslejr 2026

Our Danish adventure is over once again and we have said our goodbyes to the Danes until the next time we meet

We have had an amazing Landslejr and equally amazing time in Denmark, the boys left Scotland as boys but have come home as young men having made some new friends and met up with friends they already knew from last year, they have tried new things, learned new skills and made memories which will last a lifetime

The Danes have a saying which is - we play together, the key word here is together and we have all learned that doing things together is a strong bond which achieves many spectacular results, our boys have faced their fears with many situations while we were in Denmark and stepped out of their comfort zone on many different occasions, but they did it with strength and courage and our leaders are all very proud of them for sticking with it

Our Landslejr logo this year was called Mærk Magien which translates to feel the Magic and a magical time away was exactly what our boys and our leaders had

So what will I take away from my time at camp, well this is my second Landslejr and my forth time meeting up with the Danes and each time as I get to know them better I learn a little more from them but I am always reminded that the simple way of life is way better than life being complicated, FDF groups do a lot outdoors and camping is a huge regular event for them, camp life takes you out of your comfort zone and home comforts you become so used to and reliant upon, but it also opens your eyes to simplicity and to the beauty of nature and our planet. And there is nothing more rewarding than that

So until we meet again we say to our family at FDF Stovorde Slejlflod tak for mal, your company and friendship

May God keep you all safe until we can be together again

Landslejr Day 13

Today was our final full day in Denmark so we spent the day visiting Aalborg from some city sightseeing and highlights, Gitte was kind enough to be our guide and she showed us some lovely attractions, we saw the singing trees, the cathedral, the rooftop views from Salling shopping centre which were beautiful, the boys were then able to have some free time there while the leaders stopped and relaxed over a coffee and a chat, we also stopped off for lunch at a baguette shop for a tasty bite

When the boys returned from their free time we headed for home, we are now relaxing with a movie and snacks before packing and cleaning tomorrow for our journey home

It has been an amazing trip packed full of surprises, laughs, thrills, learning new skills and meeting and building friendships and one which the boys will remember always 🇩🇰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Landslejr Day 12

Today was another early start for us as we were spending the day at a Danish theme park called Fårup Sommerland
We had intended catching the bus there but once again some of our Danish friends went out of way to change and adapt their plans to drive us there and spend the day with us, we are so thankful for their support and kindness once again, we had bags of fun and laughter with some thrills and spills on the roller coasters and water rides with a break for lunch in between, our lunch was BBQ chicken
pølse ( do you all remember this Danish word) and potato salad, this was cooked on gas BBQs which they have in the theme park, how cool is that, we also stopped for ice cream, the weather today was drizzly rain and roughly 15 degrees but it did not dampen the boys spirits and they had a fantastic day, while also stepping out of their comfort zones as some of them had never set foot on a roller coaster in there life before

Our leaders are all very proud of them for being brave enough to face their fears and loving every minute of it

Tonight we settled down to watch the World Cup final then bedded down for some sleep after another exciting day
