St. Mary's Church - Kippax

What a day! So many conversations. Everywhere farmers talk about how the supermarkets are making it difficult for small farmers to survive. Sadly no ferry running so will leave the last section for another day. Wet through and legs not cooperating but they warmed up through the day. Gorgeous time of singing praises to God in the heavy rain to sheep with The Lord's My Shepherd. Best bit of the day visiting the church in Dalton and receiving the love and hospitality of the Mother's Union... I walked in on their annual Eucharist and tea! Made it to Furness Abbey and rescued by Jess. No pic of the Abbey as my phone ran out of battery (amendment pics now added) . Writing up notes and prayers back at base camp. Still praying and aching! Pax et Bonum!

Woke appreciating the small things.. a warm drink, the cold water in the Buddhist temple, a bed to lay in, the conversation with the farmer this morning, waking to no heavy rain... Now on the look out for small blessings from God as I walk (the long day!) No blisters and I can move!

A few images from the day. Every part of me aches! Wonderful conversations and prayers as I walked. Along the way people wanted peace. We can only have peace when our hearts find peace as loved, forgiven and resurrected people... from the prince of peace - Jesus. Tucked up in my tiny tent. Good night and blessings to you all.

Woke up with the question, "What is your heart's desire?" I'm turning this into my first prayer of the day. I will reflect on it while I walk and pray. Pax et Bonum!

Set up camp in the dark! So many stars. Walk begins in the morning. Praying tonight for peace and light in dark and troubled hearts. When the clouds clear I glimpse the stars, just for a moment but enough to know we are loved by God.

Prayer Pilgrimage. Final test of bag and rip! Old 1990's rucksack to the rescue! Maybe the old ancient ways are better sometimes. Didn't Jesus say carry one shirt? Travel light. Pray!

Prayer Pilgrimage 1st - 3rd September. I will be walking most of Cistercian Way, leave time to pray and reflect. I will be back packing with a small tent. I will be starting at Piel Island on Monday evening and then walking to Furness Abbey, Conishead Priory and Swarthmoor Hall in the footsteps of the monks. I will stop and pray at each landmark.
