The children in our Bible Crafts Class have been very busy creating a wonderful Lenten display. Please have a look each Sunday to see it develop over the coming weeks. The children are a real credit to our Parish. 🥰

Thank you to Hazel and Anna-Grace for their dedication and continued support. 🤍

Please join us if you can. If you can't manage along, please light a candle at home and pray for peace. Thank you. 🕯🤍

Joint Statement by the Scottish Bishops and Church of Scotland on Gaza and on the Recognition of the State of Palestine by the United Kingdom Government

We unite to ask for the immediate cessation of violence and the relief of the suffering of the people in Gaza, and echo the words of Pope Leo in calling for “a ceasefire, for the release of the hostages, for a negotiated diplomatic solution, and for full respect for international humanitarian law.” In reaffirming the “inviolable dignity” of each person made in the image of God, he reaffirms that understanding which we hold in common and speaks of a dignity that deserves to be “respected and protected”. We are deeply conscious of the extent to which that human dignity has been violated and that both young and old, strong and vulnerable, are all alike exposed to the threat of death and destruction.
In the light of this, we call for the release of the hostages taken on 7th October 2023 and an immediate ceasefire for the sake of all.
Further, we call for all parties to unite in the provision of humanitarian aid and, while recognising the extreme difficulties faced by all agencies in this regard, we ask that, as a matter of urgency, an accord be reached which would enable such provision to be made.
We are especially conscious of the perilous situation faced by the Christian church in Gaza, and we pray for those who in their suffering continue to bear witness to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We urge the United Kingdom Government to recognise the State of Palestine and call upon the Government to now fulfil its stated intention to do so, and thereafter to join the international community in seeking to establish a viable State within Gaza and the West Bank. We recall that the Vatican recognised the State of Palestine in May 2015 and we join with all those who affirm the right of self-determination by the Palestinian people.

Bishop Brian will celebrate Mass for Pope Francis in St Columba’s Cathedral, Oban on Monday 28th April at 1pm. All are welcome to come together as a diocese to pray for our beloved Francis. Please note that the timing of Mass will allow people to travel to Oban and return home during daylight.

Pope Francis, Rest In Peace.

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
I know that you will share in my deep sadness at the death of Pope Francis. May he rest in peace. Pope Francis was a true servant of the Lord and the People of God who, literally to the end, poured out his life for others. He was a great defender of the poor, the vulnerable and all those who were marginalised in any way. I had the privilege of being in his company several times and I was most impressed by his deep spirituality which obviously arose from a lifetime of reflective prayer. It is fitting that the Lord called him during the Easter Octave for he lived and witnessed continually to the Risen Christ. We are an Easter People and the Lord has called him to his eternal reward.
I will celebrate a diocesan Mass in our Cathedral for the repose of Pope Francis’ soul. The timing will be announced when the arrangements have been made. I know that you will keep Pope Francis in your prayers.

Happy Easter to all our parishioners and friends of the Parish.
We had the most wonderful Easter morning. A beautiful Mass, celebrated by our visiting Priest, Fr. Peter, from Derbyshire, accompanied by his beautiful dog Penny. Followed by an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden for the children, organised by Anna-Grace, while the adults enjoyed tea and cake... so much cake! Thank you to everyone who donated Easter eggs and home baking. Feeling so blessed. 🥰
