The church will be open and manned on Saturday 13th September, as part of Ride and Stride, which is the Oxford Historic Churches Trust biggest annual fundraiser. If anyone living locally would like to take this opportunity to take a look at their local church, they would be very welcome too. The Trust made a contribution to the replacement of our cupola a few years ago.

On Sunday Sept. 7th, St John the Baptist Church held its Harvest Festival Service on the Millennium Green. 34 adults and children from the church gathered to give thanks for the safe gathering in of the harvest, and make gifts of food, which will go to the Abingdon Food Bank. After the service there was a picnic, with games for the young and not so young.

Huge thank you.

Thank you so much to the lovely people who came out in this dreadful weather to give us gifts for the Salvation Army toy appeal and with food for the Abingdon Food bank. Your gifts will be delivered to Abingdon and your generosity will to help make Christmas a little happier for people who are less fortunate than us. Santa was confused by the wind and rain he is used to blue skies and thick snow.

** CHRISTMAS TRAIL DECEMBER 7TH -- UPDATE **
The weather forecast, for Saturday 7th December is wet and windy, and we have decided to cancel the mulled wine, mince pies etc. in the front garden of 3 Rimes Close.

** HOWEVER.... **
Father Christmas will still tour the village collecting new toys for the Salvation Army and food for the Abingdon Food Bank, following the route and timings previously advertised. So please look out for him and give generously, so we can help some less fortunate families to have a good Christmas. He is looking forward to meeting as many people as possible.

And we shall still be holding our raffle for some lovely Christmas Hampers. We will be selling raffle tickets at church, KBS Cafe and to friends and neighbours. Do find us if you would like to have some tickets.

It is just 10 years since we dedicated the new bell tower at St John the Baptist Church. It represented 3 years of hard work and lots of fun fundraising by church members and the great skill of those involved in the building. The time has flown by.

Wednesday 14th August saw the congregation of KBS St John the Baptist Church welcoming Rev. Catherine Schneider as our new priest in charge. The licensing service was led by the Abingdon Area Dean and the Bishop of Dorchester and the church was full of people from the village and Catherine’s friends and family all wishing her well. Afterwards there was a reception at Kingston Bagpuize house. It was a lovely evening and we are looking forward to having Catherine with us .

Address

Vicarage, Old Oxford Road
