Yesterday we held a wonderful celebration service to mark the end of Revd Rosie’s curacy with us here at the Mortimers Cross Benefice. Kingsland church was packed with people young and old, with a joyous mix of music from the choir, an iSingPop song, and the steel pans group leading the final hymn.

The children made a goodbye card, and an altar cloth was decorated during the service with a hand outline from everyone present in the church. Rosie was also presented with a gift from parishioners - a painting by local artist Glyn Whiting of the four churches in our benefice to remind her of the place where she has served her curacy, and made such a difference to so many peoples lives.

We’d all like to wish Rosie the very best as she takes up her new role as Rector in the Cradley Benefice near Malvern.

Our monthly youth group is run jointly with Kingsland Methodist Chapel - seeking to gather, encourage, support and engage with young people in Kingsland and the surrounding area together.

This month, we will be saying thank you to Rev Rosie, who has played a vital role in setting up the youth group and will soon be moving to take up her new role as Rector of the Cradley benefice in the east of Hereford Diocese.

We will miss Rosie - but don't worry, youth group will carry on! Our team of volunteers and leaders - Sharon, Wendy, Bex and Maggie - will continue to plan and lead our joint youth group for young people who are secondary school age and in the final two years of primary school.

Join us at 10.30am on 7th June for Reverend Rosie's last Sunday service in the benefice of Mortimer's Cross, before she moves to Cradley to begin the next stage of her ministry.

There will be traditional hymns, modern worship songs, a massed choir anthem, steel pans, creative activities for children and the sharing of Holy Communion together.

🥂🍽️ If that's not incentive enough, stay on to celebrate after the service with bubbly and a bring and share lunch - bring a plate of something savoury or sweet to share if you can!

Wonderful to see community singing bringing people together and the challenges of rural isolation spoken about on a national stage. If you're struggling, don't suffer in silence - let's make our communities safe spaces to share and offer support at times when life is hard. Rural doesn't have to mean lonely; there is power in community.

And of course, congratulations to the Hawkstone Farmers Choir!

Congratulations to The Hawkstone Farmers Choir who chose their shining moment to share a key message: "If you're struggling, speak up."

We operate in a county that is one of the most rural counties in England by population distribution. This choir have demonstrated that rural doesn't have to mean lonely and there is power in community 🩵

The plant stall is back! Thank you to those who have donated plants, there is a lovely variety and all high quality 🌱🌱🌱
Please come and purchase plants, which have been lovingly watered and kept in good condition during the hot weather. Donations tub is on the table, every penny will go to the work of Kingsland Church in our community 💚
