PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 13th. September.

This week our readings challenge us to think and pray about forgiving and being forgiven. Psalm 103 offered these words; “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He does not deal with us according to our sins nor repay us according to our iniquities. Great is His steadfast love towards those who fear Him.”

Please pray for God’s grace to help us to offer kindness even to those who have hurt us, and to see goodness in them. Pray for strength and will to seek forgiveness when we know we need it and to find again the comfort of the forgiving love of God for us all.

Please pray for all who have cause to feel that revenge or retaliation is justified. Pray for the victims of abuses of power, the victims of wars, the refugees and the bereaved. Pray for the love of Christ to reach them through all the people and agencies working for good.

Please pray for our own Church community and the villages we live in. Pray for mutual respect and harmony in our dealings with one another, and for all the activities which bring people together in peace and for good fellowship. Pray especially for our new venture with families and our school, Family Friday. Pray also for our PCC and for the day in October for looking at new visions for us.

Please pray for our nation and our government leaders as they seek ways of dealing with the many problems confronting them. Pray for kindness and justice to be apparent in their decision-making, and for service to the community to be their watchword.
Please pray that, as forgiven people, we will practise forgiveness and bring Christ’s blessings to this place.

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 23rd. August.

This week, we hear Jesus ask His disciples, and us, the critical question; “Who do you say that I am?” Peter’s response, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”, challenges us to seek a deeper understanding about our prayerful relationship with Him.
Please pray for God’s grace to grow our faith and to understand more and more of who Christ is, and to learn what He hopes for from each of us. Pray that we will show our faith ever more clearly in both word and action. Pray for those who teach and lead us and give thanks for those who have nursed us in faith.

Please pray for all that we do together in His name, for our Marquee Markets, for our plans for outreach to children and young families, for guidance as we look to the future here and begin to make plans.

Please pray for those with power in this world, that they will govern and lead with humility and justice. Pray for all living under unjust rule and in violent or otherwise dangerous places. Pray for God’s love to reach them, and for all who reach out to them in humanity and care.

Please continue to pray for all who are suffering the effects of this extreme summer heat and drought, especially those whose livelihoods are so seriously affected by the weather. Pray for all who are suffering sickness, for those who doubt and for those who feel forgotten. Pray that the love of Christ will reach them. Pray for any who are particularly on your heart at this time.

Please pray for quiet and peace for each one of us, and for time to spend enjoying God’s beautiful creation and just being closer to Him. Pray for His grace to help us to allow our faith to shape our lives. Pray that The Holy Spirit will dwell in us ever more richly.

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 16th August.

This week, as we pray, these words from Archbishop Stephen may be of help. “Father, I cannot always feel you near me, and I know there are so many times I try to hide myself from you; but still you are the searching God, spent in love for me, seeking out my heart, restoring and reviving.”

Please pray for stronger faith and ever closer communion with our loving, understanding Father. Pray for His Church to grow and His glory to be seen more and more. Pray for all who lead us here, and for priests everywhere, and for all who serve in any way in Christ’s name. Pray that we will have the courage to share our faith, show Christ’s love and be a welcoming light in this place.

Please pray for all that we do together in His name, for our Marquee Markets, for our plans for outreach to children and young families, for guidance as we look to the future here and begin to make plans.

Please pray for our fellow Christians in South Rwenzori, and especially for greater resources to train the clergy, and for resources to accommodate the youth conference in January which hopes to host 30,000 young people.

Please continue to pray for all who are suffering the effects of this extreme summer heat. Pray for those who are victims of fires, those who are fearful for their harvests and livelihoods. Pray for peace in our world, in families and in our hearts. Pray for world leaders, that they will govern with wisdom and justice. Pray for all working to bring relief and aid to others.

Please pray for those who are sick, lonely, grieving, or afraid. Pray that Christ’s healing touch, His comfort and peace will bless all those in need of any kind. Take time to pray for any whose needs are known to us privately.

Please pray for quiet and peace for each one of us, and for time to spend enjoying God’s beautiful creation and just being closer to Him.

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 2nd August.

This week we hear a very famous story as Jesus feeds a vast multitude. We might reflect on these words from Psalm 145; “The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and His compassion is over all that He has made.”

Please pray for our Church and community here as we long for a better and fairer world. Pray for all who struggle to have the basic necessities of life. Pray for those who try to change things, who feed the hungry and shelter the homeless. Pray that we will seek to support those in need in every way we can.

Please pray for all that we do together in Christ’s name. Pray for our August Markets, that they will be a blessing to the whole community, bringing people together for fun and fellowship. Pray for all the activities of summer which enhance our lives and draw us closer to one another.

Please pray for all affected by the terrifying fires in France and Spain. Pray for the safety of the firefighters and volunteers risking their lives to help others. Pray for those whose homes are destroyed and those whose holidays have been ruined. Pray for hope to rise from the ashes.

Please continue to pray for peace in the world. Pray for the innocent victims of war and terrorism of all kinds. Pray that those with power will come to seek peaceful solutions to disputes. Pray for a recognition of our common, shared humanity and for a flourishing life for all people.

Please pray for all who are sick in any way or suffering from troublesome problems. Pray that they will find peace and healing. Pray for the recently bereaved, that they will be comforted. Pray that we will reflect the love that Christ has for all His people.

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 26th July

This week St Paul reminds us that God is always with us, even when we feel distant from Him. Jesus teaches that God’s kingdom grows around us we can find it if we look to Him as our priority. “For I am convinced that…nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8, 38-39)

Please pray for God’s blessing on our Church here, and on each of us. Pray that we may bring blessings to those around us by daily acts of care and compassion. Pray that we may plant seeds of hope and peace in the lives of those we live alongside and work with.

Pray that we may have listening hearts to discern God’s wisdom, that we may love generously and walk gently on the earth.
Please pray for our new government, and for all who hold office in public life. Pray that they may the wisdom to listen with care and seek to act in ways that help the lives of all and respects their dignity.

Please pray for all affected by the drought, the fires, and every kind of natural disaster. Pray especially for the vulnerable and for those whose livelihoods are put at risk. Pray for any known to us who are suffering from pain, despair or loneliness. Pray for those whose faith has been shaken, or who have not found their way to faith.

Please continue to pray for peace in the world. Pray for the innocent victims of war and terrorism of all kinds. Pray that those with power will come to seek peaceful solutions to disputes. Pray for a recognition of our common, shared humanity and for a flourishing life for all people.

Please pray for all that encourages goodness, honesty, and compassion. Pray for the growth of the Church throughout the world and that it will be alive with the fire and power of the Holy Spirit. Pray that each of us will grow seeds of love, remembering that nothing can separate us from God’s love for us and for all creation.

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 19th July

This week our readings remind us that God is all powerful, and even though we are surrounded by worldly things, He longs for us to turn to Him and claim Him as Father. Psalm 139 says “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”.

Please pray for the ability to recognise, resist and overcome the distractions of daily life which turn us from God and make us less than we could be. Pray for God’s grace to help us to become closer to Him and to being the person we were created to become. Pray for our families, friends, and our Church community. Pray especially for grace and blessings on our new priest, Rev Ann, as she begins her ministry amongst us.

Please pray for peace in the world’s war zones, and for all who are seeking a lasting settlement of the conflicts. Pray for those who cannot escape the chaos and destruction around them and pray for the safety of those taking risks to bring help. Pray for all in leadership roles whose decisions have such consequences for the lives of others.

Please pray for schoolchildren and especially those in our villages at the beginning of the summer holidays. Pray for parents coping with the expense and the stress which the long break can bring. Pray for all who are taking holidays away, that they may find refreshment and peace.

Please pray for the sick and the sad and lonely. Pray for the recently bereaved and for all who are mourning the loss of someone they cared for. Pray for those who comfort them, that they may bring peace and reassurance and insight into the boundless love of God for each of us. Pray for those recently married in our Church and those preparing for marriage. Pray that our encounters with them will be a blessing and a glimpse of that boundless love.

PRAYER LIST for the week beginning 5th July

This week our readings remind us of our need for God to help us in the difficulties and trials of everyday life. Jesus offers words of great comfort; “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Please pray for the humility and trust to bring our individual burdens to Christ. Pray for His help and reassurance in all our worries and problems. Pray for greater self knowledge, so that we rely less on our own resources and allow God more power in our lives.

Pleas pray for our Church and parish this week, as we take part in the licensing of our new Associate priest, Revd Ann Devereux. Pray for blessings upon her as she begins her ministry amongst us and pray that we will be both blessed by her and also be a blessing to her. Pray with thanksgiving for the safe return of Tom, our priest in charge and for the faithful ministry of Jane and Antony.

Please pray for peace in the world’s war zones, and for all who are seeking a lasting settlement of the conflicts. Pray for all in leadership roles whose decisions have such consequences for the lives of others. Pray especially for our own government and for an early solution to the problems and uncertainties which we read about daily.

Please continue to pray for the practical needs of our fellow Christians in South Rwenzori who need help with providing facilities which we take for granted. Pray for the work of Christian agencies in this country and abroad, seeking to meet the basic needs of people in so many places. Pray for prayerful generosity with both money and time and skills.

Please pray for the sick and the sad and lonely. Pray for the recently bereaved and for all who are mourning the loss of someone they cared for. Pray for those who comfort them, that they may bring peace and reassurance and insight into the boundless love of God for each of us. Pray for those recently married in our Church and those preparing for marriage. Pray that our encounters with them will be a blessing and a glimpse of that boundless love.
