This week we will be considering how we can work together as a church body, with our wonderful community, to get all the things that need to be done, done!

That includes things like our governance, finance, worship on Sunday and Tuesday, safeguarding, working with St. Paul's School and our local community, maintaining the church and churchyard, and cleaning. In addition there are all those activities that we would like to do for people of an older age, for children, families and parents that all need volunteers to run and coordinate.

So, please come along to see how you can help out.

Our 8am service is a quieter Communion service (about 35 mins), without hymns or music.

Our 10am service is a more family orientated service, within hymns and a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere.

Come join us and enjoy our warm, inclusive welcome and our coffee, tea and biscuits after the service.

Wherever you find yourself, I pray that you enjoy the blessing of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Holy Week is nearly upon us. There is lots happening at St Paul's throughout the week. Please see the attached picture for all the details. If there is a service you have never experienced why not give it a try? The different services all have a different 'feel' to them and give an opportunity to reflect on the Easter story. Please message if you have any questions.

This Sunday is Mothering Sunday and I will be talking about the background to this important day in the calendar of the church and also to the way in which God conveys the beauty of motherhood and parenting through the Bible and the life of Jesus.

Our 8am service is a quieter Communion service (about 35 mins), without hymns or music. This week we will be using the Book of Common Prayer, the beautiful words of which take us back in time the Reformation of the 17th Century.

Our 10am service is a more family orientated service, within hymns and a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere.

Please come and enjoy our warm welcome and coffee, tea and biscuits after the service.

This Sunday I will be talking about Jesus meeting the Samaritan at the well. There is so much to this event, not least the way in which Jesus sets himself up for criticism and hostility for talking to someone who was not only a Samaritan (the relationship between the people of Samaria - Samaritans - and the Jewish people was hostile for historic reasons) but also a woman! How do we interact with people that maybe at the margins of our society and culture?

Come and hear more on this story from John's Gospel. You are more than welcome to come to either (or both) of our services.

Our 8am service is a quieter Communion service (about 35 mins), without hymns or music. This week we will be using the Book of Common Prayer, the beautiful words of which take us back in time the Reformation of the 17th Century.

At 10am we have a Communion Service (normally just over an hour but we are reducing the length to about 45mins it at the moment) with hymns and music. This service tends to attract more families with children and we are continuing to see more families coming for the first time.

This 10am service is followed by filter coffee, tea, and biscuits.

So please come and receive a warm welcome, enjoy our relaxed and inclusive approach to worship and join us in refreshments afterwards. We are a church that welcomes all who come to us to experience the love of Jesus, regardless of their individual character or background.

So, Lent is nearly upon us - this Sunday is the last before Lent. You may have seen the last post about our Ash Wednesday Service, at 7.30pm on Wednesday 18th February 2026.

This Sunday I will be continuing the post Christmas theme of revelation, talking about the Transfiguration of Jesus. This is not a word that we come across often and to be honest not one I really understood for much of my adult life! To Transfigure is to transform into something more beautiful and that is certainly what happened to Jesus on the mountain. But what does that mean for us? Come along and I hope to give some background and explain.

You are more than welcome to come to either (or both) of our services.

It may seem that we have just been celebrating Christmas but next week marks the next big season in the church year. On Wednesday 18th February we will be marking Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent.

Our service will be starting at 7.30pm. It is a quiet service including a part of the service where Fr David will invite you to be marked on your forehead with ashes – a symbol of humility and a reminder of human mortality. He will say the words “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”, originating from Genesis 3:19 when God tells Adam that his life, like all human life, is temporary, but turning back towards God offers something eternal.

Lent represents the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness, where he fasted, prayed, and resisted temptation (Matthew 4:1–11). Just as Jesus withdrew to focus on God, Lent invites us to step away from daily distractions and reflect on our lives – what’s going well, where we need to grow towards God, and how we can deepen our faith.

We would love it if you could join us for this very special service.

We would really love to see at St. Paul's Church on Sunday morning, 8th February 2026.

This week I will be talking about the challenges we face as a Church, when trying to work through the many things that need actioning before we can put an application (a 'Faculty') to the Diocese to install a replacement heating system. This in turn will need us to think about our 'people' resource and governance - who is doing what and why!

As I mentioned in last weeks post, we are a church that welcomes all who come to us to experience the love of Jesus, regardless of their individual character or background.

But to have any chance of making the right decisions we must look to God. We must strive to understand Him, and His Kingdom, before we can seek to expand his Kingdom through our everyday lives and activity.

You are more than welcome to come to either (or both) of our services.

We would really love to see at St. Paul's Church tomorrow morning, 1st February 2026.

This week I will be talking about Jesus healing the paralysed man who was lowered through the roof of the house by his friends. I will be drawing upon our need to constantly think about removing any 'barriers' we put in place as 'church' to the ability of ALL to come to us and experience the love of Jesus.

We are still without our boiler but we can certainly guarantee you a warm welcome to our church!
