The U.R Welcome from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Kilmarnock, recently had a gardening afternoon and, as part of it, some small plants were given to the pupils of Mount Carmel Primary School to nurture and watch grow in the class room.

On Monday the pupils returned to the church and planted their flowers around the statue of Our Lady in the church grounds. It was a lovely occasion and the U.R. Welcome team were joined by Sr Juliet.

U.R. Welcome meets fortnightly in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Kilmarnock from 1.30 pm - 3.30 pm on Wednesdays and is open to any senior citizens, family and friends. To find details of their next meeting, see the RC Kilmarnock newsletter at: rckilmarnock.org.uk.

"Yes sir, I can boogie" meets St Joseph's pipe organ!

Today, after an entertaining organ recital at St Joseph's Church, Kilmarnock, Aaron Hawthorne spent some time with Advanced Higher Music pupils from Wallace Hall Academy, Primary and ELC, Dumfries, demonstrating the versatility of the pipe organ. Enjoy his improvisation on "Yes, sir, I can boogie" (and more) on the 1903 (restored 2023) Harrison & Harrison organ as an encouragement to the national team in Miami tomorrow!

Last night was the final Youth Evening before the summer in Kilmarnock and Dumfries, but while we're all sad to not have another until September, everyone had a FANTASTIC night - in Dumfries, the young people enjoyed an outdoor Mass in the church grounds, while both groups then enjoyed their evenings outdoors! Everyone had a fantastic evening, with games old and new (or freestyle in Dumfries), as well as hearing about what it means to be part of the Church: God's family! Thank you to everyone who came along, there may not be another Youth Evening until September...but have a great summer programme lined up - see you there!
