Anne Holloway will lead a short service in church at 5pm this Good Friday 3rd April; it will take the form of a meditation with words and music on the Seven Last Words of Jesus. It’s expected to last about forty minutes. All are welcome.

Abbey Hill URC, Kenilworth Successfully Spreads JOY!

After receiving two funding grants from local charity The King’s Table, Abbey Hill URC fulfilled their ambition to make Project Joy a reality, bringing art, music, poetry and cookery sessions to local people at no cost.

Throughout Project Joy Parts 1 and 2, the church engaged with hundreds of people of all ages who benefited from professionally led workshop sessions with local artists.

Activities ranged from creating a community canvas to cake decoration, exploring musical instruments to creating new psalms and were all well attended.

Following the project, participants reported feeling an increase in their sense of wellbeing and increased confidence as a direct result of attendance. People also commented that they appreciated the welcoming atmosphere, inclusivity and quality of the sessions.

Art and poems from the initial section of the project have been collected into a wonderful booklet, which is being distributed to the local community via the church and other willing outlets to continue the legacy of spreading joy.
