When women pursue the office of pastor or elder they are not advancing womenβs rights, they are actually putting womenβs rights back by thousands of years. They are basically committing the same sin that Eve committed in the garden. Like Eve, they are ignoring Gods instruction and more than that, they are losing the absolute honour of glorifying God by submitting to his sovereign will. Instead of showing strength of character they instead show weakness by becoming slaves to sin and listening to the silky tongue of the serpent as he successfully separates them from their honoured place with almighty God. The first sin that set the tone for all future sin, all sin is underpinned by the denial of Gods sovereignty and choosing the approval of other sinners rather than looking forward to adoption into the household of the most high king. That isnβt empowerment, thatβs failure.
