Today - Study Group - All welcome.

First session exploring Teresa of Avila’s prayer ‘Christ has no body now but yours’.

We’ll be looking at ‘hands’.
The hand of God in our lives and the life of the world through the eyes of Scripture and our own experience.
Our own hands through which we might bless or hurt, hinder or serve others.
And God’s call on us to use our hands to love and serve Him, each other and all creation.

All are welcome to join us for this summer’s Study Group, beginning Thursday 11 June 2026.

Based on a prayer attributed to Theresa of Avila ‘Christ has no body now but yours’, we will be exploring how God meets us in our daily lives and calls us to His service.

The course will run for five weeks on Thursdays 11.00am to 12.00noon, refreshments from
10.45am.

Today we had our second ‘Q&A with the Jed Soul Sisters’ and we were privileged to use the new premises for the JedEye hub in the former iCentre off Murray’s Green.

The team have done such an amazing job preparing and moving and getting ready for the ‘soft launch’ next Sunday. Congratulations!!

At Soul Sisters we looked at the ‘Parable of the Lost Son, also know as the Prodigal’. We had some excellent discussions and dug deep into the text. So many areas where everything connected so closely with our own life experience.

Prodigal means ‘recklessly extravagant’, and we immediately think of the younger son squandering his inheritance. But what about the Father’s love and welcome? Isn’t that recklessly extravagant, too, calling us and all creation into life in all its fullness?

All are welcome to join us at next week’s session. Same time, same place.

The Jed ‘Soul Sisters’ are in town again tomorrow, and are our first guests in the new Community Hub.

They’ll be at our new home in Murray’s Green (the old iCentre) from 10.30am to 11.30am.

This week we will be joining our sister charge of St Cuthbert’s, Hawick for our Sunday Eucharist for the Second Sunday after Pentecost. The service begins at 10.30am. All are welcome.

There will be no service at St John’s this Sunday.

Gospel: Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26

Collect: O God, our hope and strength, the source and end of all our prayers: because our mortal nature is weak we can do nothing good without your help; support us with your grace, that in keeping your commandments, we may ever remain in your love; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
