START YOUR BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT ONE OF OUR FREE EVENTS!

TONIGHT (Friday 22nd) step back in time for an entertaining evening of traditional music, history and costume with the Colchester Waits, lively group of musicians who specialise in bringing the sounds of the past to life. Performing in historical costume and playing traditional instruments, they recreate the music that would have been heard in towns and villages centuries ago.

Come and get creative in Tattingstone Churchyard this weekend!

Local artist Julie Temple (BA Hons Illustration and Painting) will host 'Art in the Churchyard' a session of sketching outdoors. Bring a chair, a sketchbook, pencil and rubber (or the medium of your choice) and enjoy the opportunity to make art in the centre of the village amongst a group of like minded people! All ages and abilities welcome.

On Friday 22nd May step back in time for an entertaining evening of traditional music, history and costume with the Colchester Waits.

The Colchester Waits are a lively group of musicians who specialise in bringing the sounds of the past to life. Performing in historical costume and playing traditional instruments, they recreate the music that would have been heard in towns and villages centuries ago. Their performances combine vibrant music, fascinating historical insight and a good dose of humour, making the past feel engaging, accessible and fun.

During the evening (Starts 7pm) you’ll hear a variety of pieces drawn from historical traditions, with the performers sharing the stories behind the music and the role musicians once played in community life.

Whether you’re interested in local history, traditional music, or simply looking for an enjoyable and unusual evening out, this promises to be a memorable event.

Join us for a FREE, relaxed, hands-on pinch pottery workshop and discover how to create your own ceramic pots using simple traditional hand-building techniques. All materials will be provided and pots will be glazed and returned.

Celebrate 250 years since the birth of John Constable. As part of the wider programme organised by Colchester and Ipswich Museums.

On Fri 12th June, 7pm Da Capo Choir perform their evening of ‘Winnie the Pooh and Constable too’ entertainment with singing, readings and poetry celebrating the 250th anniversary of Constable and 100yrs since the publication of the first AA Milne Winnie the Pooh stories.

Over the weekend we will display artwork by the children of Tattingstone Primary School.

Come and join us in the Church TOMORROW for the official opening and a chance to see the completed work and the reconfigured space at St Mary's.

Doors will open at 10.30 and at 11am Archdeacon Rich Henderson will formally dedicate the newly improved space, marking an important milestone for the church.

During the weekend an exhibition of Village History will be on display - and refreshments will be served from our new kitchen!

Come and say hello and see the reconfigured space for yourself.
