🔥 SERMON OF THE WEEK | LIVING SACRIFICE 🔥
📖 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
— Romans 12:1
A living sacrifice is not something we offer once and walk away from. It is a daily decision to surrender ourselves to God—our body, mind, plans, gifts, family, relationships, time and future.
✨ WHENEVER WE SAY “YES” TO GOD, IT IS VALUED BY HEAVEN.
God is looking for people who are willing to say YES to His will.
Our calling begins when we are willing to present ourselves before God.
📖 1 Corinthians 1:10 reminds us to be united in mind and purpose.
We are not called to build our own kingdom. We are called to surrender to God's purpose and become part of what He is building.
🪨 WE ARE LIVING STONES
📖 1 Peter 2:5
«“You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”»
We are not lifeless stones. We are living stones, being built together into a spiritual house.
And the foundation is Christ.
📖 1 Peter 2:6
Christ is the chosen and precious cornerstone.
Jesus is the Cornerstone upon whom everything must be built.
There is also a powerful picture in Zechariah 4:7: the final stone is brought out with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”
Our lives must be built, established and completed by God's grace.
👑 FROM SIMON TO PETER — FROM A NAME TO A CALLING
Jesus said to Simon:
📖 Matthew 16:18
“You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church…”
Simon received a new name—Peter, connected with the meaning of rock/stone.
The message is powerful: God can transform a person's identity and use them as part of His spiritual house.
And Jesus Himself remains the foundation and cornerstone of the Church.
🏠 MY HOME IS A SPIRITUAL HOUSE
If I am a living stone, then my home must also become a place where God is honoured.
My family is not simply a household.
My home can become a spiritual house.
My life can become a spiritual sacrifice.
My family can become a place of worship.
📖 Joshua 24:15
«“But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”»
Joshua did not leave the decision to someone else.
He made a declaration:
“As for me and my house…”
🙏 CALLED TO BE A HOLY PRIESTHOOD
📖 1 Peter 2:5 — We are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
📖 1 Peter 2:9 — We are also described as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession, called to declare His praises.
You are BUILT to be a holy priesthood.
Your worship matters.
Your obedience matters.
Your surrender matters.
Your service matters.
⚔️ WORSHIP IS MY WEAPON
📖 2 Corinthians 10:4
«“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world…”»
Our battle is spiritual, and our strength comes from God.
Worship is not merely singing.
Worship is surrender.
Worship is obedience.
Worship is declaration.
Worship is spiritual warfare.
Worship is sharing what God has placed within us.
📖 Philippians 4:18 describes giving as “a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.”
What we give to God from a willing heart becomes an offering of worship.
❤️ CALLED TO UNIFY, NOT SEPARATE
We are called to love, not hate.
We are called to build, not destroy.
We are called to unify, not divide.
Jesus Himself prayed for the unity of His followers.
📖 John 17:21
«“That all of them may be one…”»
The Church should be a place where broken people encounter healing, restoration, truth, grace and hope through Jesus.
The Church is not a place for condemnation; it is a place where people can encounter the transforming love of Christ.
And as living sacrifices, we should carry that love wherever we go.
🌿 “THERE IS NOTHING IN ME THAT SHOULD BECOME AN INSTRUMENT OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.”
Our entire being belongs to God.
📖 Romans 6:13
We are called to offer ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness.
Our hands should serve Him.
Our mouths should praise Him.
Our minds should honour Him.
Our homes should glorify Him.
Our gifts should build His Kingdom.
🩸 OUR WORSHIP IS THROUGH JESUS
📖 Hebrews 10:19–22
We have confidence to enter God's presence through the blood of Jesus.
Our offering does not make us worthy by itself.
Jesus makes the way.
Our worship, service and spiritual sacrifices become acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
🎁 WHAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED IS A GIFT — USE IT FOR GOD
Everything we have is ultimately received from God.
Our gifts.
Our opportunities.
Our abilities.
Our resources.
Our families.
Our time.
So don't wait until you have everything to worship God.
Worship Him with what you have today.
What you have may feel small to you, but when surrendered to God, He can use it for His glory.
🔥 DO NOT RETURN TO THE OLD LIFE
📖 Hebrews 10:26–27 gives us a serious warning against deliberately continuing in sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth.
A living sacrifice means that we don't simply confess Christ with our lips while continuing to live according to the old nature.
Surrender must become a lifestyle.
🏡 “AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE…”
📖 Joshua 24:15
«“But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”»
And Joshua's generation continued to serve the Lord.
📖 Joshua 24:31
They served the Lord throughout Joshua's lifetime and during the lifetime of the elders who outlived him.
Our surrender can influence the next generation.
What we model today can become the spiritual inheritance of our children tomorrow.
🕊️ A WILLING SACRIFICE
📖 Leviticus 19:5
God instructed Israel regarding the peace offering and emphasised that it was to be offered of their own free will.
God does not want forced worship.
He wants a heart that willingly says:
“Lord, I am Yours.”

I am not called merely to attend church.
I am called to BE the Church.
I am not called merely to sing worship songs.
I am called to LIVE a life of worship.
I am not called merely to receive.
I am called to SURRENDER.
I am not called to divide.
I am called to UNIFY.
I am not called to hate.
I am called to LOVE.
I am not called to live for myself.
I am called to become a LIVING SACRIFICE.
🙌 MY DECLARATION
I am a living stone.
I am part of God's spiritual house.
I am called to be a holy priesthood.
My home will serve the Lord.
My worship is my weapon.
My life is an offering.
My surrender is my worship.
I am called for a living sacrifice.
