On Sunday we thought about prayer and looked at the Lord's prayer. We read it together to help us think about the words and we also heard it in Chichewa from Rev Osman in Malawi.

Here's a way to see another angle. This time from The Message paraphrase which uses more modern language.

Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best—
as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

Last week Mercy Sibande from Mamie Martin Fund came to speak to pupils at St Ronan's Primary School . They had lots of good questions and provided some lovely Scottish hospitality. See the school page for more photos.

Afterwards with a little spare time I gave a quick tour of Innerleithen. Local tour guide, Tweed Valley Blogger won't have anything to worry about 😃 but it was good to introduce a visitor from Malawi to some of our local history.

Have you seen the adder? Beautiful but with a dangerous bite!

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

It's always good to visit St Ronan's Primary School and especially to join a visitor all the way from Malawi. The children had lots of great questions and listened really well to the answers.

The Scottish snacks were very enjoyable! Well done to you all.

Have you ever wanted to pray but didn’t quite know where to start?

This Sunday we’ve got an all age service built around something called TryPraying.

Whether you’ve been praying all your life or you’ve never tried it once, you’re welcome.

Join us at Innerleithen this Sunday at 10:30 and stay for lunch.

We’d love to see you there

Please take 90 seconds to hear about the ITW Three Peaks Challenge!

Last year I visited St Anthony’s Secondary School in Thondwe, Malawi. I was so impressed with the ambition and creativity of Headteacher Felix and Depute Head Maria. With the help of the Turing Trust they have been able to start a computer lab of refurbished desktop PCs.

However, there is no internet connection in the school. A computer lab without the ability to go online seems unthinkable in the UK. We know that access to online learning would open up lots of important opportunities for students in St Anthony’s. We are also working with Dr Catherine Chavula from the University of Strathclyde to allow for research opportunities.

Therefore on Alan Turing Day (23rd June) Denis Robson and I are going to tackle a sponsored walk to try and raise the £1000 needed to get the computer lab online. Turing has often been called the father of modern computer science, so it seems an appropriate day.

During the walk we’ll visit our three church locations, Traquair Kirk, Walkerburn Hall and Innerleithen Church and in between each we’ll climb a hill in each part of the parish, taking in Minch Moor, Pirn Craig and Lee Pen. It’s a walk of over 15 miles so we’ll need the benefit of a long June day!

Please give generously to a cause that will make a significant difference for the education of the students at St Anthony’s Secondary School.
