Important Letter from Bishop Hugh:
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
You may have already heard that the Church in Scotland is being encouraged by the authorities in Rome to look at the structures and resources which underpin our mission in this country. Specifically, we are being asked to consider whether the number and size of our dioceses are still fit for purpose and/or whether there are better ways in which our eight dioceses can share their resources and expertise.
The bishops of Scotland would like to offer all of the faithful an opportunity to share their insights on this. We are asking every parish to provide an opportunity for discussion on these matters. We are also approaching directly all those who have subscribed to the diocesan email list.
Using the link below to the statistics document, you will find some interesting and useful material on the present make-up of the Church in Scotland.
I invite you to complete this Google form survey online: https://forms.gle/aYQwdP9RqF93fZgN8. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. You may also send your reflections to the diocese using this email address: [email protected]. The deadline for all responses is the end of this month.
These responses will be collated (anonymously) and, after further reflection and consultation, be shared with the Holy See. Prayers are also appreciated for this.
