A quick reminder that it is our harvest festival tomorrow led by Rev Sue Burton. We will be supporting The Welcome Centre. Food Bank and More. Please bring dried or tinned foods or toiletries. Alternatively we will be accepting monetary donations.

If you would like to support The Welcome Centre. Food Bank and More like Mr Scarecrow, there will be a bin for food collections in St Stephen's porch. Please bring dried and canned food with long dates. Half the profits from the festival will also go to them.

It's all going on here! Scarecrows galore on the theme of "The World is a better place when we help each other". Don't forget, cream teas from 3pm.

This Saturday is our usual monthly Marketplace from 10 till 12. There will be refreshments, stalls, the community police and lots of scarecrows. The church will remain open until 5pm for Lindley Scarecrow Festival. We will also be open on Sunday after our morning worship until 4pm.

On Friday afternoon, from 3pm to 5pm we will be serving cream teas in the church lounge. Pop in, get your scarecrow trail programme, and build up your energy for the task ahead! £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

There will also be refreshments throughout Saturday.

In "George Edwards and the General Strike" the Rev Graham Hedger looks at the activities of the Primitive Methodist politician George Edwards during the 9 day strike of 1926, focusing on Edwards' support for the mineworkers and their families prompted by a fiercely moral Christian socialism based on the Bible rather than Karl Marx.
