Today we thank God for the long awaited rain, and delight that the grass is already greener.
We also pray for all those receiving exam results today: may the road ahead be clear.

On Sunday 11am, we are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of our church building. Come and join our service and celebrations if you can - all are welcome at St Mark's.
Here is a wonderful photo showing our building under construction, which began in 1876 and was completed in 1877.

Today we celebrate Mary Magdalene (Mary who was from Magdala).
Mary was healed by Jesus, travelled with Jesus, was there at his crucifixion, and was the first witness to the resurrection. In fact, she told the other disciples that Jesus was alive, and so is often called “The Apostle to the Apostles”.
She is mentioned explicitly 12 times in the gospels, which is more than most of the male apostles.
And yet she is often overlooked, and often maligned.
Today, let us pray for the recognition of the role of women in the church and in the world.

Fr Simon says, having been away, it's great to be back saying morning prayer in St Mark's Church. Today we especially pray for pupils, families, carers and school staff as the holidays begin.

Our music group will lead our singing on Sunday. I haven't got a photo of them, they must be shy!
