On Saturday 12th September this year, St Michael's church will be taking part in Heritage Open Day, a nationwide festival celebrating our national heritage and culture. Entry is free. If you haven't yet climbed the tower and seen the fantastic view from the top, now's your chance!

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Emley Open Gardens event last weekend and particular thanks to everyone who took part and contributed to its success.
This was Emley village at its absolute best! We heard so many wonderful comments from visitors - here are just a few:
'The village is so friendly'
'People have been so kind'
'This event is so well-organised'
'The gardens are so varied and beautiful'
'The views are amazing'
'The church is lovely - and so cool!'
'The food has been really good'
'There's a brass band!'
'This is how village life used to be when I was little' ...

So thank you to every single person who made this event so special and especially to Eira Shaw, the dynamo behind it all.
The total raised for St Michael's Church was an utterly astonishing £11,600 for which the church is so very grateful. Words are inadequate but well done everyone!!

The ‘Woven in Kirklees’ Community Quilt is now on display in St Michael’s Church. Come and have a look at this fabulous creation assembled from squares submitted by villages around the Denby Dale Ward - several from Emley.
The quilt will be in place until 26th June and the church is open every day. When visiting, please be aware that services and other activities take place throughout the week - see the notice in the porch for times.
Come and see it during the Emley Open Gardens weekend, 20th - 21st June.
