Our sharing this Sunday.
Matthew 7:24-27.
In this passage, Jesus uses figures of speech, including parables and metaphors. He employs concrete images from everyday life to illustrate profound spiritual realities.
Two Kinds of Houses
Both men are building a house that represents their lives. The houses may appear identical on the outside, but the difference lies in the actual base or foundation, invisible but crucial.
1. Two Types of Foundations
• The rock represents the practice of God's word, the fulfillment of Jesus' will.
• The sand signifies hearing without doing, just listening, nothing beyond listening—faith without works, without fruit, without reality.
2. One Word.
Both hear the same word from Jesus. The difference between them was not in what they learned, but in their response to that teaching. One would do what he says (put God's Word into practice), the other would not.
3. Two Types of Christians
This passage presents us with two different types of disciples:
• The true one, based on obedience to Christ, is the one built to endure through trial.
• The counterfeit one, an imitation of faith, but weak and ultimately destined to collapse.
Conclusion
But what interests God is not just hearing the Word, but putting it into practice. It is obedience that grasps our faith in a way that makes it firm and lasting in the storms of life.
God bless you!
