Deanery Station Mass at Holy Cross, Hucknall

Our parish community was honoured to host the Deanery Station Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hucknall, in the Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, North Nottingham.

The Mass was led by Bishop Patrick McKinney, Bishop of Nottingham, and brought together priests, religious, and parishioners from across Nottingham. It was a beautiful moment of prayer, unity, and fellowship as the wider deanery gathered during this special Lenten journey.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the celebration so prayerful and welcoming. May this time of grace continue to strengthen our faith and our communion as one Church.

Yesterday, two members of our parish family, Marie and Bodwell Mendy, were officially commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers for our church during a beautiful Mass celebrated by Bishop Patrick McKinney, Bishop of Nottingham.

It was a truly joyful occasion, filled with grace, thanksgiving, and a deep sense of community. We give thanks to God for calling Marie and Bodwell to serve in this special ministry and for their generous “yes” to His call.

Let us keep them both in our prayers that the Lord may strengthen and guide them, filling them with His love, humility, and reverence, as they help share the Body and Blood of Christ with our parish community. Amen

Thank you Marie and Bodwell for your service, dedication, and faith-filled witness. You are a blessing to Holy Cross, and we pray that God continues to use you mightily in His vineyard. Amen

A couple of weeks ago, we were blessed to have the African Catholic Community Choir join us at Holy Cross Parish. Their joyful presence and vibrant music added so much colour to our Mass — what a beautiful celebration of faith and culture! 🎶✨

This Sunday, 8th June, we celebrate Pentecost, and we’re inviting everyone to come in their traditional attire as we reflect the wonderful diversity of our parish family. 🌍🔥

Let’s come together in unity, dressed in the beauty of our heritage, and celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit!

We joyfully welcome Pope Leo XIV as the new shepherd of the Church. May God grant him wisdom, strength, and grace to lead His people in truth and love.

Christ is Risen, Alleluia! 🌅🕊️

At our Easter Vigil, the new fire was blessed, and the Paschal candle was lit, marking the beginning of the Service of Light—a powerful reminder that Christ is the Light of the world.

In a beautiful moment of grace, we also welcomed a new member into the Church, celebrating new life in Christ through the Sacrament of Baptism.
The darkness has been overcome. The tomb is empty.
He is truly Risen!

🌿 Palm Sunday at Holy Cross 🌿

Today, our parish family came together to joyfully celebrate the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

With palms in hand and hearts lifted in praise, we marked the beginning of Holy Week—reflecting on Christ's journey of love, sacrifice, and redemption.

Today, we celebrate and give thanks for all mothers, grandmothers, mother figures, and those who nurture and care for others with a mother’s heart.

As we honour you, we turn to Our Blessed Mother Mary, the perfect model of love, faith, and grace. May she intercede for you, strengthen you, and wrap you in her mantle of peace and protection.

Before Mass, there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon—a sacred time for quiet reflection and adoration.
