Today we were delighted to welcome Linda Kelly, the newly appointed CEO of Renfrewshire Foodbank, and Lynn Collie, Senior Manager, to Houston & Killellan Kirk. It was lovely to meet them both and to hear more about the work the Foodbank is doing across Renfrewshire.

Linda shared her thanks for the incredible generosity of our congregation and community. Houston & Killellan Kirk continues to be one of the Foodbank’s strongest supporters, and your donations make a real difference to local families facing hardship.

This support is only possible through partnership working, and we want to thank BEE HAPPY HOUSTON, Houston Primary School, Langbank Primary, and Langbank Church for their continued commitment and generosity.

We also heard that the Foodbank is currently very short on most items. At this time of year, when many people are preparing for holidays, donations naturally drop but the need does not.

If you are able to give, all donations are very gratefully received (with the exception of anything containing alcohol, including mouthwash).

How to Donate
• Tuesday mornings, 10am–12 noon, at the West Halls
• Any time using the Collection Crates in the West Halls, Killellan Halls, and the Church whenever these buildings are open

Thank you for continuing to support this vital work and for helping care for our neighbours across Renfrewshire.

On this final day of Volunteers' Week, we pause to give thanks for the many people who serve our church and community with such generosity. Whether you help on a rota, support a group, lend a hand at events, or quietly keep things running behind the scenes, you make a real difference.

Thank you to all our volunteers. We are blessed by you.

Today we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and care to our youth groups
HKK Girls, 1st Houston BB, Sunday Club and Bible Class.

Week after week, they create spaces where our young people can
have fun, play games, get creative, bake and cook,
go on trips, learn new skills, make friends,
and grow in confidence.

None of this would happen without them.
Their kindness and commitment make all the difference.

To every volunteer who supports our children and young people, thank you. You make such a difference. Volunteers' Week

Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week, and we’re kicking things off by celebrating some of the wonderful people who give their time to support our community groups.

We have a huge number of volunteers across the life of the church, this video shares just a few of them. We asked what they would say to someone thinking about volunteering, and their answers say it better than we ever could.

To every single person who helps run groups, supports events, makes people feel welcome, or quietly keeps things going behind the scenes thank you. Our church and community simply wouldn’t be the same without you.

And if you’ve ever wondered what volunteering is like, or whether you could get involved, maybe their words will give you a little nudge. There’s a place for everyone.
