As the summer holidays come to an end, we’re thinking of everyone heading back to school/college this week or preparing to go off to University.

For some pupils, it’s the start of a brand new year with new teachers, new classrooms and new opportunities. For others, it’s an even bigger step as they start at a new school, secondary school, college or nursery for the very first time.

We’re also thinking of all the teachers, teaching assistants and school staff returning to work, preparing classrooms, welcoming pupils and beginning another busy school year.

We pray that God will give you confidence when you feel nervous, strength when things feel difficult, good friendships along the way, and a real sense that He is with you wherever you go.

We hope you all have a brilliant start to the new school year.

To all of our Bethany Youth getting your GCSE results today...

You’ve done the lessons, the revision, the exams, the waiting… and now results day is finally here.

Walk in with your head held high!

Whatever is written on that piece of paper today, remember this: your results are something you achieved but they are not a measure of who you are.

A grade cannot measure your kindness.
It cannot measure your character.
It cannot measure your creativity, your humour, your determination or the difference you make to the people around you.

Some of you will open your results and be absolutely buzzing. Celebrate it! You’ve worked hard and you should be proud.

For others, things might not look exactly how you hoped. If that’s you, please hear this: one set of results does not decide your future. There are always different routes, different opportunities and people ready to help you work out what comes next.

Today might feel big, but you don’t have to walk into it afraid. God is with you in the excitement, the nerves, the celebrations and even the disappointments.

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

So take a deep breath, walk through those doors confidently and know that we are incredibly proud of you and its not because of the grades you get today, but because of the young people you are becoming.
