New Chapel United Reformed Church is a little church in the middle of fields, overlooking Horwich and the North of Bolton, with a loyal, Christian, caring, hard-working fellowship and faithful following. Our neighbours are farmers and cottage occupants who support the church and some who are members, but there are also two well-established housing estates nearby. The Church was established in 1716

by our non-conformist forefathers who broke away from the Parish church of Deane and built a chapel on our present site. It was enlarged in 1801 and again in 1901, when a balcony was fitted. School buildings were erected around this time, across what was then a quiet lane and extended in 1936.

Sunday club talked about pilgrimages. We went on a duck hunt and used them to tell the stories about Jesus’s pilgrimage and other stories from the Bible. We then went on our own journey across the fields for ice cream!
