Representing the life and presence of the risen Jesus, our Paschal Candle has been adorned with flowers and has taken a central place in the worship at HT since our Easter Vigil on the night of 4 April. Now, following our last Morning Prayer service of Pentecost week, it has moved to its usual place next to the font to be lit at baptisms - symbolising the light of Christ which all baptised Christians are called to reflect in their lives - and at funerals - to remind us of Christ's victory over death and his promise of the resurrection.

In our morning Bible reading from Ephesians 6, St Paul called on his readers to persevere in their prayers for each other. So we pray that you might know the light and peace of Jesus in your life - whatever you may face - now and in the days to come.

We were delighted to receive a Leonard Crosby Community Group Award at the Trafalgar Neighbourhood AGM last Wednesday. It was such an uplifting and enjoyable meeting with so many residents, groups and businesses receiving awards for all they do to make Trafalgar such a wonderful place to live, work and worship. Congratulations to all. Our own Trinity Church Players choir opened and closed the meeting.

Discovering Christianity: a discussion group for the curious

What is faith? Who is Jesus Christ?

Why do Christians believe the Bible?

How can being a Christian make any difference to my life?

If you want to explore the answers to these and other questions then this weekly discussion group is for you. The group will meet at Holy Trinity for six weeks from early May and we will use the chapters of Rowan Williams' book Discovering Christianity (2025) as the starting-point for our conversations. If during the sessions you feel interested in being baptised and/or confirmed then Fr Sam will be very happy to prepare you for the Deanery Confirmation service on 21 June.
