The chapel renovation is continuing with the 20th century mortar being replaced with the traditional lime mortar. This will allow the walls to "breath" and dry out as originaly intended when the chapel was rebuilt in 1781.

Thankfully, the two large flagstones near the baptistry are not covering graves, but they will be reinstated to their original position accessible via a removable cover in the new wooden floor.

The vestry doorway is being widened and the original external doorway is being reinstated as a second fire exit to meet the latest regulations.

A few years ago, the Congregation and General Chartiable Trust awarded us a grant of £15,000 toward the renovation costs of the chapel, for which we were very grateful. Unfortunately, the grant award had a time limit of two years and we were unable to claim it due to the delays in the start of the project. We reapplied earlier this year and have been awarded an increased grant of £20,000! We thank Congregation and General Charitable Trust for their generosity and promise to complete the work as quickly as possible!

In advance of restoration work starting on Hook Norton Baptist Church chapel, we have a number of chairs available, free.
These include:
27 brown plastic-seated chairs
18 brown aluminium-framed chairs
6 brown aluminium-framed padded seat chairs with arms
5 beige aluminium-framed padded seat chairs

They are used, but not abused, so hopefully can find new homes.
Free to collect, although any donation to the restoration work would be welcomed.
