The Friends of Kent Churches Sponsored Ride & Stride this year takes place on Saturday 12th September 2026. We will be welcoming riders at St John's but currently do not have a team riding on our behalf.

It's a great reason to visit places of worship in our area. And it's an opportunity to raise money for Kent’s churches and chapels by cycling or walking to as many as you want or are able. Money raised is shared equally between the church or chapel nominated by the participant and the Friends of Kent Churches, which awards grants to help preserve them. In 2025 Kent’s Ride & Stride raised £152,674.

If you would like to take part or want more details, go to: https://www.kentrideandstride.co.uk/. Please nominate St John's on your sponsorship form!

To raise awareness & support for the Medway Gravesham & Swale branch of Samaritans celebrating their 60th anniversary, our bell ringers rang a quarter peal today at St John’s Church Higham. They have already rung at All Saints Church, Strood and will ring next weekend at Holy Trinity, Queenborough, Swale completing three quarter peals.

The “quarter peal” is a challenging feat of 1,260 changes and today was rung on our 6 bells in 40 minutes, conducted by Phil Brown. Derna Brown volunteers with the Samaritans.
Well done everyone! 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔

After Mass today (10:30-noon) the bellringers will be ringing a quarter peal to raise awareness of their fundraising and support of the Strood branch of The Samaritans who celebrate their 60th anniversary.
If you wish to make a monetary donation they will be collecting during the ringing and until midday.
Enjoy this challenging feat and beautiful bell ringing. We wish them well!

Just a little reminder that it is our monthly Foodbank collection weekend. Thank you for your donations of non-perishable foods, toiletries and household products to help families in our area who are struggling. 🙏🏻

A date for your calendars! A return from this excellent and entertaining band.

Yesterday at Mass Father Clive announced that, subject to completion of formalities, he has been appointed Vicar of St Andrew & St Francis Willesden Green in the Diocese of London. The proposed date for his Induction is St Andrews Day, 30 November, and his last Sunday with us will be 25 October.

Your prayers are welcome: for Fr Clive as he follows the call to pastures new; and for St John’s as we seek God’s guidance in this parish.
God is faithful. 🙏🏻

After our final Mass this morning we packed up our campsite and the pilgrims are now home, tired but joyful.
We are thankful for your support and prayers this week. The kids had an amazing time, made new friends and experienced God afresh. What gives us leaders joy is seeing them growing in themselves and in their faith. God is good. 🙏🏻
