In a significant and inspiring milestone for the High Wycombe community, the Wycombe Islamic Mission & Mosque Trust (WIMMT), in partnership with the esteemed Jamia Al-Karam institution based in Retford, Nottinghamshire, has announced the launch of a new introductory Alim course, scheduled to commence in February 2026.
This transformative 18-month, part-time programme will lead to the award of Jamia Al-Karamโs Accredited Certificate in Arabic Grammar & Islamic Studies upon successful completion.
An inaugural meeting was held on Saturday 24 January 2026 at Micklefield Mosque to mark the occasion. The meeting was attended by Vice-Principal Bakhtyar H. Pirzada (Jamia Al-Karam), Chaudry Haji Abdul Rashid (Chairman, Wycombe Islamic Mission & Mosque Trust), Mr Jamil Akram (Administration Manager, Jamia Al-Karam), Imam Shoaib Nawaz (Imam, Micklefield Mosque), alongside a number of local representatives.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed, establishing the academic partnership and affirming a shared commitment to delivering a structured, part-time programme tailored for young learners aged 16 and above. The course will be administered and facilitated by the Wycombe Islamic Mission & Mosque Trust, while Jamia Al-Karam will oversee academic standards and provide ongoing support in the areas of curriculum, training and quality assurance.
Speaking on the occasion, Bakhtyar H. Pirzada said: โIt is a deep honour to take part, on behalf of Jamia Al-Karam, in the signing of this MoU and the establishment of an academic partnership with the Wycombe Mosque community. High Wycombe holds a special place for us; many graduates of Jamia Al-Karam originate from this area and continue to serve its surrounding communities today. Upon his arrival in the UK, the service-oriented journey of our Founder and Principal, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, began here through the Wycombe Islamic Mission. To now be bringing this course for the benefit of young people in this community is truly humbling. We pray that this initiative is beneficial and blessed.โ
The Certificate in Arabic Grammar & Islamic Studies is a structured and intensive programme designed to provide students with a strong foundation in core Islamic disciplines, including Fiqh, Sirah, Aqidah, Tafsir and Hadith, with a substantial emphasis on classical Arabic grammar. Further details regarding the curriculum, class timings and registration process will be announced in due course.
This programme offers an excellent opportunity for young people to embark on a meaningful academic and spiritual journey. As Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: โWhoever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion.โ [Sahih al-Bukhari]
Upon successful completion of the course, students will also have the opportunity, should they wish, to progress directly into the second year of the renowned Islamic scholarship programme at Jamia Al-Karam.
Those interested are encouraged not to miss this unique opportunity to enrich their knowledge and nurture their spiritual growth under the guidance of qualified scholars from both the local community and a nationally recognised institution.
