Who is our Guest Speaker Tomorrow?

Qari Abu Adam al-Azhari is one of the founders of Darul Qurra & Islamic Research Centre & a senior lecturer there. This institute has taught over a thousand students from around the world over the last decade. The Imam of Micklefield Mosque also lived at the institute & had the great fortune to complete his Persian studies there.

Qari Abu Adam is also author of arguably the best English tajweed Qa'idah in the world. The innovation of thought in this book exceeds other English Qaidah's in that the author has even changed the chronological order of the Arabic Alphabet to make it easy for an English Audience!

Qari Abu Adam is a graduate of the Al-Azhar University & holds many licenses in the Islamic Sciences, from chains of transmission in the Khairabadi school to chains of transmission in the rational & textual sciences from Shaykh Pirzada & other scholars of Islam.

He will be presenting an Ijazah/licence in the Qasidah Burdah Ode with a chain of transmission to Imam Busiri, to all attendees tomorrow at Micklefield Mosque with certificates.

What is the Burdah Ode?

The Burdah Ode is one of the most recited poems in praise of the Holy Prophet (salutations & peace be upon him) in the entire world. It is recited from China all the way through Asia, Africa, Arabian Peninsula to the Far West. There is simply not a single place in the world that is unfamiliar with this great poem.

It was written by Imam Busiri of Egypt after he suffered a stroke. After he finished writing the poem he went to sleep & was honoured by beholding the Holy Prophet (salutations & peace be upon him) in his dream. After Imam Busiri woke up from his blessed sleep he was astonished to see that he was miraculously cured from the long term disabilities incurred by the stroke that he suffered a little while before.

Could you imagine having a direct chain that links you back to Imam Busiri?! Imagine he was your teacher through a consecutive chain of lovers of the Holy Prophet (salutations & peace be upon him)?!

Well now you can make that dream become a reality. Join us on Friday as we passionately recite this ode together, after which all participants will receive a special Ijazah/licence in the ode that will connect them back to Imam Busiri of Egypt, the Lover of the Holy Prophet (salutations & peace be upon him).

Summer Seerah & Shama'il Course: Completion & Certificates

Alhamdulilah over the summer period students spent their time learning amazing stories from the blessed Seerah & the beautiful Shama'il of the Beloved of Allah (salutations & peace be upon him) including, his perfect intelligence, forgiveness, forbearance, humility, humbleness, social interaction, modesty, bashfulness, fairness, justice, dignity, courage, bravery, physical strength, miracles & blessed Hilyah

A person or thing is loved for 3 reasons, beauty, perfection & favour. With the grace of Allah, Imam Mubashir practically showed the students over the summer period through seerah & shama'il that, no one is more beautiful than him! No one is more Perfect than him! No one has favoured us more than him!

He is the most beautiful & the most perfect. His favours on us are more than anyone in creation (salutations & peace be upon him). May Allah Almighty make the students who attended these classes true lovers & followers of the majestic one, our master & the Beloved of Allah, Sayyiduna Muhammad salutations & peace be upon him forever.

Summer Football Club

Well done to all the students who partook in the Summer Football Club at Micklefield Mosque Complex.

At the end of each football session the students sat with Imam Mubashir & covered in detail the signs of the Day of Judgment.

It's important to speak about the signs of Qiyamah & to remind our families & children. This is a means of bettering ourselves & recognising that this world is temporary. It also helps us to recognise signs that are manifest before our eyes today & so a person realises that the end is near. This enables us to spend our time doing good deeds and pleasing Allah Almighty & following the way of His Beloved Prophet (salutations & peace be forever upon him).

Summer Kick Boxercise Completion & Certificates

Well done to all the students who took part in the Summer Kick Boxing Club at Micklefield Mosque Complex.

Students learned the fundamentals of Kick Boxing, basic punching & kicking techniques, basic attack/defence combinations, footwork drills, fight strategies & improved fitness.

The club has helped students grow their confidence, fitness & discipline. A big thank you to Coach Naqash, who has passionately coached the students & has helped them to grow in a positive manner.

NEW RELEASE - THE PERIODIC TABLE OF WELL-KNOWN HADITH SOURCES

This one-of-a-kind visual created by Mawlana Abu Hasan, ingeniously adapts the familiar structure of the Periodic Table of Elements to categorise and convey information regarding books of Hadith.

This brilliant guide provides the names of various Hadith books, their classification (based on attributes like authenticity, genre, and juridical relevance) and additional author information, all amazingly concentrated into one table.

While a conventional periodic table organizes elements by physical properties, this Hadith table brings a rich array of works, including some obscure ones, into an easily navigable format. Books and collections of hadith have been placed in a specific order based on their attributes. Not only does the table classify a large selection of hadith works - some rarely mentioned even is seminaries - it also arranges them diligently based on their authenticity, genre and juridical significance. This means that a book's position alone reveals a lot of contextual information about it along with the period of the muhaddith.

Although the table doesn't have the mathematical exactness of its elemental counterpart, it offers potential for uncovering patterns and new layers in Hadith scholarship. This novel approach serves as a valuable tool for exploring Hadith literature in a highly engaging manner.

It is meant to be a visual aid for students and scholars to quickly identify texts relevant to specific subjects or genres.

A helpful legend is included at the bottom of the table to help first-time readers make sense of the various symbols, labels and numbers. A more detailed companion guide has also been published separately to facilitate efficient use of the table. This guide includes a tabulated list of all the books with their authors’ full-names, brief definitions of the 51 different categories of Hadith mentioned in the table and two consolidated lists of Hadith works based on anthologies - totaling nearly 200 names - 170 with overlaps excluded.

In sum, this Periodic Table of Hadith is an innovative and welcome contribution by Mawlana Abu Hasan to Islamic educational material, and paves the way for new pedagogical approaches in Islamic studies.

For our Discussion last week, we had a brief biography of Hazret-i Eşrefoğlu Rumi printed for the attendees. The Bio was penned by our guest speaker, Shaykh Shams Tameez.

We would like to thank the admin of Wycombe Mosque, Fatimah Zahra for preparing hardback copies in time for all our attendees.

Hazret-i Eşrefoğlu Rumi was a great Scholar & Saint from the Anatolian lands during the period of the Ottomans.

Ulema of the Ottoman Tradition

We had a huge turnout last week for our discussion with Shaykh Shams Tameez. Imam Mubashir asked a series of questions & in turn the Shaykh responded with elaborate answers, touching on a vast array of topics & further discussions.

The session opened with a brief history of the Ottoman Empire itself & what its place was in the Muslim world, this was followed by the role & legacies of Scholars in the Empire. It was quickly concluded that the rightful status given to the Ulema & their hands on role in the affairs of the Empire was actually the reason why the Ottomans lasted for over 600 years

Another interesting encounter during the discussion was the knowledge of Islam that the Sultans & leaders themselves posessed. Fatih Sultan Mehmet was well versed in the sciences of Islam & hence could truly appreciate the rank of Knowledge & the people of Knowledge; the Ulema.

The session was concluded with inspiring anecdotes of the Ulema & Sages of the Ottoman Tradition, particularly Hazret-i Eşrefoğlu Rumi. Shaykh Shams has written a brief Biography of the Ottoman Saint which can be accessed in future posts.

SUMMER KICK BOXERCISE

In our last session, we looked at how to effectively defend oneself from 'bigger' people.

This mainly involves good footwork to move in/out of range, together with distance management and reaction time.

The kids practiced various footwork drills on the agility ladder.
The kids were then put into pairs and practiced a 'distance management' drill where one person was the attacker and the other the defender, impersonating a typical real life scenario.

The role of the attacker was to walk the opponent down, close the range and apply continuous pressure.
The defender's objective was to use various kicks to control the range and manage the distance effectively to keep the attacker away.
