All Saints’ Church invites you to find out more about our project and to register your interest in art, music and dance opportunities over the next few months.
Our exciting project for Hessle:
“The history of Hessle has always been interwoven with All Saints' Church, as is community life today. The project, alongside our restoration of the tower, will explore that heritage and those connections, and in doing so, give them new life. We will not just restore the building, but through art, dance and music, it will help maintain the living heritage of the community, involving new generations in sharing all that makes Hessle what it is and always has been.”
- Vicar Rev Gemma Turner
Bringing together heritage and the arts. The community project aims to bring the local community together through an engagement programme designed by Fred Garland and Olwyn Reading, which will run throughout the restoration and feature multimedia elements such as film, art, singing, and dancing.
TENFOOT DANCE.
A local contemporary dance company run by Fred Garland and Jon Beney.
In conjunction with Laramedia, a short film looking at the history of Hessle All Saints' Church and its communities will be created. Jon Beney will be leading the medieval movement session in May.
Sessions throughout May, on Sundays - May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, with filming on the 24th.

Sunday 17th from 3.30pm onwards- the end time is not yet set as this will be our last rehearsal session ahead of filming and therefore we will set a finish time the week before based on how things are going.
Sunday 24th May from 3.30pm. This is our filming day!!
Choral/music sessions at All Saint’s Church:
These will start from Tuesday 5th May 6.30 pm til 8.00 pm approx.
Paul Benson will be advising and liaising with those to be involved.
These sessions will run every Tuesday through to July.
On Sunday 24th May during the movement filming, we will also look to film a short choir rehearsal in the church.
A brand-new chorale inspired by Psalm 121 and the current restoration works being carried out on the church spire is being composed. This chorale will form the soundtrack to the film.
The film will be released on All Saints' Day (Sunday, 1st November), as will all the other project outcomes, in an exhibition inside the church. The movement sessions are based on medieval dance accessibly designed for everyone, no previous dance experience required.
