St. Thomas' Indian Orthodox Church London Hemel Hempstead A Parish of the UK-Europe & Africa Diocese of the Indian (Malankara) Orthodox Church We belong to the Pan Orthodox Communion.

The Indian Orthodox Church also known as the Malankara Orthodox Church is a Church founded by St. Thomas, one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, who came to India in A.D. 52 and established Christian communities in various parts of India. History and tradition confirm that he even ordained a few people to the ecclesiastical authority and established the Apostolate in India. The Malankara Orthodox Church, is part of the Oriental Orthodox family of Churches, and is in communion with the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the Eritrean Orthodox Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church. Nevertheless, no one is barred from worshipping along with us if they are sympathetic to our faith and practices. Our Church is a member of various national and international ecumenical bodies like National Christian Council of India and World Council of Churches and also member of joint committees and commissions with the Catholic and Lutheran Federations. Members of our church had been presidents and moderators of both NCCI and WCC.
