Route 61

Route 61 You’re not just a donor, you’re family. This isn’t charity. It’s community. Together, we restore hope, raise leaders, and share God’s love in Kenya and beyond.

Together, let’s change their story. Route 61 develops local mentorship teams who nurture the fatherless in their own communities. Through encouragement, affirmation and personal encounter with the love of God, children and youths are empowered to overcome adversity and thrive.

Gen Z is not okay.

“I had piled up a lot of painful trash in my heart, but with a very open smile on the outside. But since I opened my heart to Father, I experienced Him healing me. There are still many scary memories, but I trust Him to love me through them.”

This is what our friends at Mto Myoni, Uganda, are seeing: young people carrying trauma and hiding it behind a false smile.

But when they meet God’s love, everything starts to change.
We’re seeing it in Kenya, too.

This generation matters to God, and we will reach them better together.

If you feel God calling you to stand for Gen Z, send us a DM♥️

🏃🏻‍♀️🏃‍♂️Hannah and Christopher, you did it.

Crossing the finish line just like you started: side by side.
Faces flushed. Legs tired. Just enough left for a small, proud smile.

You finished all 13 miles 👏🏼.

They didn't run alone. 54 of you gave them the lift they needed. Together you raised £1,726.

We're so grateful. Your kindness helps Kenyan children feel secure in their families.

All it takes is one idea, a few friends, and a bit of oomph to get started.

Got an idea you'd like to try? Whether you walk, cycle, bake, or try something new, your idea could help a child stay part of family life.

📩 Want to plan your own fundraiser? Message us. We're here to help.

Outside, it’s still dark.

Cold rainwater dribbles down the window.

Even the birds are tucked up in their nests, feathers fluffed against the chill.

In Hertfordshire, Hannah pulls on her trainers and breathes in that first blast of cold air – the kind that stings your lungs and clears your mind.

Thousands of miles away in Kenya, one of our mentors stoops to tie the frayed laces of her worn shoes before walking through the gates of a children’s rescue centre.
She’s going to sit with Elizabeth, who holds a baby, the result of the crime that was done to her. A mere child herself, Elizabeth stares at the floor, her future a fog she can’t see through.

The woman speaks softly, her voice steady, her hand resting reassuringly on Elizabeth’s arm.

Two mornings. Two people stepping out for love that finds the forgotten.

This November, Hannah and her brother Christopher are running the Hertfordshire Half Marathon to raise £2,000 for Route 61 – helping our team to keep showing up for young people like Elizabeth in Kenya’s juvenile justice system.

They’ve seen the work first-hand: The mentoring and small moments that rebuild hope.

Every mile they run helps us reach further.

You can be part of that.

It’s like waking up on a bank holiday morning to the sizzle and smell of bacon frying 🥓.

You don't realise how hungry you are until the rich, smoky smell drifts through your room. You're moments away from the first bite and crunch of crisp, salty bacon.

That’s how near we are to reaching the 3-peaks challenge target for Route 61.

Just £45.50 to go.

Your gift could be the runny yolk 🍳 that brings the bacon to life, the last push to the top.

Day One of the 3 Peaks Challenge: 11 hours climbing up and down Ben Nevis.

By the end, two teammates could barely walk. One had a knee give out, another’s old injury flared. Stopping would have been easy.

But nobody was left behind. All four came down together.

That same unflinching resolve and togetherness is what Route 61 mentors bring every day for children carrying struggles no one else can see, many growing up without the steady anchors of parents to guide them.

Today, the team takes on peak two. Sponsor David, Josh, Mark, and Paul to keep climbing — and to keep Route 61 mentors standing beside the kids who need them most.

Every pound for every metre climbed funds a trained Route 61 mentor to step in – standing where a parent can’t, but where a child needs a listening ear and a trusted voice.

🎥 Team 61’s Carol, John, Steve, Thomas and Viviane share a heartfelt message of encouragement and thanks for our 3-peaks climbers.

They recorded it in the Route 61 Oasis Garden in Kisumu, Kenya 🇰🇪. It's playful, warm and unmistakably them.
