During our teenage groups visit to 3Generate - the Methodist Church national youth event - the theme was ‘On the Way, and focused on ‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. All our group received new bibles and adventure books to take us through the next 12 months, which we use in our sessions every Sunday to discuss, debate and challenge. If you’d like to know more about our teenage and youth work at Hedon Methodist Church, drop us a line, we’d love to talk to you.

Lord, we pray for all who are depressed and feel defeated by life. Bring your healing to all who are broken, ease their pain and touch them with your Holy Spirit, that their sorrow will turn into joy. We ask that you will wrap your ever-loving arms around all who suffer, that they may rejoice and walk in the redeeming light of loving and being loved by you. Amen.

As the rising of the sun announces a new day, may your mercy and peace give us the strength we need for this day and all that lies ahead.
Like a beam of light through a cracked door, brightening a darkened room, may your joy come to illumine our sorrow and suffering.
Life-giving God, shine the light of your love this day. Amen.

God of mercy,
just now, grief comes easily, coupled with sorrow.
We bear witness to the devastation of war,
abuse of power and human cruelty.
We mourn loss of innocence,
that justice takes flight as our systems splinter.

God of goodness, change us.
Stir and inspire our hearts,
transform greed into grace,
fear into confidence.
Call us to speak for justice
grounded in love.

God of wisdom,
encourage us to seek and find joy,
and let it infuse our being.
May the hope that is in us defy the darkness. Amen.

Loving God, we give you thanks that we can always turn to you in prayer and know that you love us and listen to us. Whether praying with the words of others, with words of our own, or simply being with you in silence, we know that you hear us.

Help us to come to you with our joys and thanksgiving. But help us too to bring our sorrows and concerns and the needs of our neighbours, for nothing is too large or too small to share with you. So may we make prayer a part of our lives. Amen.
