Last week Sunday Club was all about times when it isn't over till it's over!
We talked about recycling and how that gives new uses for things even when you think you've used them up.
We heard the story of Lazarus, who was raised from the dead by Jesus even when his family thought it was too late and the story of Ezekiel who watched God bring dry old bones back to life.
We played some waking up games and we made some brilliant skeletons
We talked about how our God has power over life and death and can do amazing things, even when we think the story is over

Happy Mothering Sunday!
It's our tradition to give flowers to everyone in our church today- not just for mothers, but for everyone who is part of making our church a place where we feel safe and loved.
We talked about lots of things today- about Lent and about different ways of feeling and seeing and about change and about seeing things from different perspectives.
Then we took our lovely bright flowers out with us into the new week- hopefully they will make us smile each time we see them 😊

Last Sunday was World Day of Prayer so we shared a session prepared by our sister Christians in Nigeria 🇳🇬 asking us to think about God's invitation to come to him and he will give us rest.
We practised carrying burdens as some women traditionally do in Nigeria, and we talked about what burdens we might have.
We wrote down the things that weigh us down and the worries that we carry with us, and we asked God to take our burdens and give us rest.
We did some restful jigsaws to make pictures of the Nigerian crane and trumpet flower and we ate some plantain chips as we learnt more about Nigeria
Na gode, jaraama, daalu, thank you to our Nigerian sisters for our Sunday Club this week!

Today we asked lots of questions!

We were looking at the story of Nicodemus. He was a Jewish leader, at a time when the religious leaders were very wary of Jesus. But Nicodemus felt there was something special about Jesus and wanted to know more. He came secretly in the night to Jesus and asked loads of questions, and when he didn't understand the answer, he asked MORE questions!

And Jesus didn't mind - it gave him the chance to share one of his most important messages: that God loved the world so much He sent his Son to save it.

This is a great example for us- God wants us to be curious, he wants us to think for ourselves and he wants us to ask questions.

To practise asking questions, we had a hard question challenge, where we only got the answer because we kept asking questions, and we played a game where we had to ask Yes/No questions to guess who we were: we were a light bulb and a fish amongst other things!

We made a signpost to remind ourselves that when we are in the dark, we should keep asking questions to find our way.

A couple of weeks ago we talked about God wanting us to stand up for fairness and equality.
We talked about using our money to buy things that supported fair working practices (yes of course we had some Fairtrade chocolate 😋) and we played some games with unfair rules - Red team had to throw the beanbag from further away than Blue team so it was much harder for them, then we swapped round and Blue team had to balance the beanbag on their head and hop to the finishing line whilst Red team were allowed to put it in their pocket and run!
We agreed that the unfair games weren't fun for anyone, even if you had the easy rules, and
we made stand up cards of ourselves to remind us to stand up for the right things.

A couple of weeks ago Sunday Club was thinking about instructions and how clearly God teaches us about the life we should live.

We learnt about mission command in the Navy, where the leader gives a clear aim for the mission then relies on the team to use their own ideas and judgment to work out exactly how to get there.

We thought about God's very clear instructions to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly and we talked about what that might look like in detail in our lives.

We made this brilliant bunting to remind us of our mission (you might need to zoom into the pictures to see them properly!)

A couple of weeks ago we were talking about standing up for what's right. There is a passage in the Old Testament that says when we stand up and look up and do the right thing we reflect the glory of God.
If you look closely at the photos you'll see the amazing reflected messages that the Sunday Club came up with - these were very tricky to do!
