Top tip #2 to save money in the school holidays – search for free activities

Check local libraries and museums, or search your council’s website for free activities, meals and holiday programmes.

Churches and community hubs often host free events too, so it’s worth checking community Facebook groups to see what's on in your area.

We found activites at the library, Play Day in Victoria Park on 28 July and Teddy Bears Picnic at Beech Hurst on 21 August. You could go out for a walk or go to the beach.

If you’ve tried to read the Bible consistently and kept falling off — this is not a guilt trip.

It’s actually why cohorts exist.

Doing it alongside other women, with a simple framework and a live session each week to anchor you, makes a difference. Not because you suddenly become a different person. But because you’re not relying on willpower alone.

Psalm 119 for Summer runs July and August. 2-3 stanzas a week — deliberately slow, deliberately sustainable.

You don’t have to have a perfect track record to join. You just have to want to try again.

Debt: The hidden crisis in our community

Spiralling debt is becoming even harder to repay. But we don't just look at the numbers; we look at the person, and there is a way out. When you’re struggling to pay for the basics, it’s not just your bank balance that suffers—it’s your mental and physical wellbeing.

At Haywards Heath Baptist Church, we believe no one should have to live that way. Through our partnership with CAP - Christians Against Poverty UK , we offer practical help to restore joy and resilience to families in our community. Don't face it alone. Find free help near you at capuk.org/help or call 0800 328 0006 to book an appointment with our team based in Haywards Heath.
