I have found a very old hymn for this week's Sunday evening hymn:

"Now that the daylight fills the sky,
We lift our hearts to God on high,
That He, in all we do or say,
Would keep us free from harm today.

Would guard our hearts and tongues from strife;
From anger's din would shield our life;
From evil sights would turn our eyes,
And close our ears to vanities.

So we, when this new day is gone
And night in turn is drawing on,

Our final stop on our "holiday at home" during August is the Plen-an-Gwarry in St Just in Penwith. The readers' service this morning, written by the Rev Sylvia Burgoyne, was centred on Peter writing about a Living Hope - the living hope that is a gift from our risen Saviour, which he wants us to share with those who walk in the darkness.

Against the backdrop of tragic news and turmoil in the world again this week, we do indeed offer the living hope to all. For our Sunday evening hymn this week, we will repeat a hymn from this morning, Mission Praise 553:

"Peace I give to you...
Love I give to you...
Hope I give to you...
Joy I give to you..." (Graham Kendrick)

The second photo was taken on the Plen on Easter Day in 2025 when the Risen Christ was offered to all who happened to be in St Just that afternoon.

Thank you to Sheila for this lovely photo of a bright yellow flower. A bit of cheer for us for our quiet Eco Church reflection today with a verse from James, Chapter 2:

"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food...."

I was already going to add the second photo, from the quilt exhibition in Nancegollan recently, and now it reminds me of Dolly Parton's song "Coat of many Colours" and all the blessings we have.

We thank the Rev Nicola Martyn-Beck for leading our Holy Communion Service this morning. This Sunday's evening hymn seems to reflect some of her thoughts and advice, to be a learning and listening Church:

"More about Jesus would I know;
more of His grace to others show,
more of His saving fulness see,
more of His love, who died for me.

More about Jesus let me learn,
more of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my teacher be,
