We are three Anglican parishes in the Diocese of St Davids in Pembrokeshire, a diocese of the Church in Wales and included in the Daugleddau Local Ministry Area. Wiston Church was founded by Wizo the Fleming, from whom the settlement of Wiston obtained its name, shortly after he built the original castle. There has been a church on this site since the early twelfth century. The church is dedicated
to St Mary Magdalene, the only Anglican church so dedicated in Pembrokeshire, and one of only two in St Davids diocese. Wiston Church Choir, under the direction of the organist and choirmaster Mr Seimon Morris, lead the musical aspect of our worship at the 11.00am service and offer a very wide range of music, from baroque to jazz, classical to pop. The churches of St Mary the Virgin, Walton East and St Martin of Tours, Clarbeston were also probably built during the very early part of the 12th century at the command of Wizo, the Flemish Lord of Wiston. Walton East Church features some beautiful stained glass windows, mostly dedicated to the Philipps family of Penty Park, a branch of the Philipps family of Picton Castle. Clarbeston church was rebuilt in 1840, and probably all that remains of the original church is the tower. The building is interesting in that whilst it has coloured glass it has no ‘stained glass’ windows - usually churches have at least a stained glass east window, but not Clarbeston. Sadly, Clarbeston Church had to close as a place of worship at the end of 2013, due to depleted finances and the need for extensive repairs to the ancient tower. Our normal pattern of Sunday services are as follows:-
