What’s on in Hathern Church this week?

Tonight (Monday), Friends of Hathern Church met to discuss and organise the social side of church life…..including this year’s Christmas Tree Festival.

On Tuesday at 7.30pm, the Alpha course starts.

On Wednesday morning we have our usual Coffee Morning from 10am until 12 noon. Why not pop in for a chat with friends (£1 a cup).
Wednesday evening, the Praise Group meet to rehearse for the September Praise Evening.

On Thursday evening, the bell ringers are practicing from 7pm until around 8.30pm

We are having the organ repaired on Friday afternoon, and this will be followed by QUIZ N CHIPS, starting at 7pm. It costs £13.50 per person (which includes your fish and chips supper). Teams of 4 (you may be asked to make teams up). Do arrive earlier than 7pm to place your order (there are some alternatives to fish and chips available), which will arrive towards the end of the quiz. Tea and coffee will be provided with your supper, but please bring your own drinks if you would like something stronger.

On Sunday morning, it’s the Benefice Service of Holy Communion here, at HATHERN CHURCH, at 10.30am. Refreshments will be available after the service.

Is Christianity relevant to everyday life today? Who is Jesus? Do you have questions about faith and life? Why not come and discuss these questions, and more, in a friendly, informal atmosphere on the Alpha course?

We are running four Alpha sessions on Tuesday evenings this September at SS Peter & Paul Church, Church Street, Hathern, starting at 7.30pm.

The dates are 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th September 2026.

Refreshments are provided.

There is no charge for the course.

On Monday, Friends of Hathern Church meets to organise the social side of church life. FoHC is open to anyone who wants to have a say. It's at 7:30pm in church.

On Wednesday we have our usual Coffee Morning from 10:00am until 12 noon. Just pop in for a chat amongst friends, £1 a cup.
In the evening, the Praise Group will be planning their next Praise Evening, Wednesday 26th August

On Sunday, Hathern Church is the venue for the Benefice Holy Communion, it starts at 10:30am, all welcome.
At 12:30 there will be a service of Holy Baptism.

And a plea: if you buy the Church Marmalade would you mind returning the empty jar back to church, please, we're often short of the right-sized jars, thank you.

We have our usual Coffee Morning on Wednesday from 10:00am until 12 noon, last orders 11:45. Only a pound for a cuppa and a biscuit, and a chat with your friends.

We have a visiting band of bell ringers on Saturday morning at 11:30am for about an hour, they'll be doing a quarter peal

And on Sunday, we have our Family Welcome service at 10:320am.
If it's a service of Holy Communion, in the benefice there's one at Diseworth Church at 9:30am and another at Kegworth Church at 10:30am

Tomorrow (Sunday) morning our informal Cafe Church is being held at 9.30am (please note the new, slightly earlier time).

Do come and join us for a light breakfast (with a selection of bacon butties, croissants, toast and jam. Coffee and Tea will also be served.

There’s plenty of time to chat and enjoy fellowship alongside a thought for the day.

Today, Monday, there will be a funeral service for Tony Scott in Hathern Church at 11:00am
In the afternoon, the Church Magazine Team will be collating the August Church Magazine from 2:00pm until about 4:00pm.

On Wednesday we will be having our usual mid-week service of Holy Communion. Please note that this takes place THIS WEEK (22nd July) but was incorrectly dated in the July Church Magazine. It is always on the 4th Wednesday of the month, and starts at 9:30am
At 10:00am, we have our usual weekly Coffee Morning, come along for a chat over a cuppa and meet your friends.
In the evening, it's our monthly Praise Evening at 7:30pm, again incorrectly dated in the July Magazine. Peter Yorkstone will be leading our thoughts, his theme is "You are chosen and precious" and we'll be singing lots of songs of praise, followed by refreshments and a chance to chat. Do join us.

Saturday sees the Benefice Men's Breakfast at the Three Crowns, 9:00am for a 9:30am breakfast followed by a short talk. If you'd like to join us, please contact John Wigley.

On Sunday, we have our Cafe Church, bacon butties, croissants, hot drinks and a thought for the day. The Cafe Church, on the 4th Sunday of every month, is now brought forward and will start at 9:30am from now on.
If you'd like Holy Communion then there are two services in the Benefice, at 9:30am at Osgathorpe Church and at 10:30 at Belton Church.
