The candlestick, The church
In Revelation 1:20, the candlesticks are revealed as churches. Each church has a candlestick—the candlesticks are what make a church truly a church of Christ. In Revelation 2:5, Jesus threatens the church in Ephesus that he will remove the candlestick from its place unless they 'repent'—mind you, they are already Christians. If the candlestick is removed, the church will remain full of people and with all its religious activities, but before God, it won't be a church of Christ and will have no power. We are deceived in many churches, thinking that we can do whatever we want in Jesus's church and with the gospel. A lot of churches have no candlestick and are breeding sites for heresies, arguing they are the door to heaven. It's true that where two or three are gathered, Jesus is present, if they gather in righteousness, but if they are following heresy and are misled, Jesus won't be there. Be careful of false worship that presents itself as truth. Churches have deceived many, and the true gospel was diluted and mixed with people's names—all these lead many to punishment at the last day.
The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. Revelation 1:20
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Revelation 2:5
