Please join us this coming Tuesday 13th October for our Pop Up Coffee Shop. This month it is in aid of a brilliant charity - Methodist Homes for the Aged. In their own words, they exist for one reason - to help older people live later life well.

To support their vital work they are asking communities to host a "Communi-Tea Party" - and our version is a Pop-Up Coffee Shop where tea (and lots of yummy treats) will be available as well as fresh brewed fairtrade coffee. All the proceeds will go to help Methodist Homes for the Aged continue all the amazing work they do. Please come along on Tuesday - and tell your friends!

Please join us on Tuesday morning for our Pop-Up Coffee Shop in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Since 1990, Macmillan have encouraged as many people as possible to host an annual coffee morning to raise vital funds to support the almost 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. We would love your support - please come along if you can!

Your help is urgently needed!

Cambridge Airport will be closing - and with it, the base our Cambridge crew call home. We now need to raise £8.2 million to relocate, build a new Cambridge Air Base and protect lifesaving care across the region.

We provide the very best care when the very worst happens, bringing intensive care directly to the scene of the incident in the fastest time possible. This service is only possible because of our two bases. However, the impending closure of Cambridge Airport – home of one of our two operating bases – threatens to cut our lifesaving service in half. With no base in Cambridgeshire, there is no East Anglian Air Ambulance crew in the centre of our region, no helicopter, and no lifesaving care.

Please come along on the 11th August and support us if you can.

What's your favourite hymn? Is it one you sang at school assembly or maybe Sunday school? Is it one you hum along to whilst watching Songs of Praise? Or maybe you have a hymn that reminds you of a special event or a special person. You might like "He's got the Whole World in His Hands" or maybe "All things Bright and Beautiful" - if you are a rugby fan, perhaps it's "Jerusalem" or "Guide me O Thy Great Jehovah" You might remember singing "Kumbaya" or "Sing Hosanna" if you were a child of the 70s like me 😎If so - "Sip, Snack, and Sing" is for you! Next Sunday afternoon at 4pm we will be joining together to sing our favourite hymns - just turn up and tell us which hymn you would like to sing, and we'll give it a go! To reward ourselves for all that singing, we will be providing a range of hot and cold soft drinks and some sweet and savoury snacks. Everyone is welcome, there is no charge and no need to book - just turn up. We hope to see you there!

Please join us tomorrow morning - Tuesday 14th July - for our Pop Up Coffee session where the Rhee Trefoil Guild will be raising money for an amazing local charity - Cambridge Women's Aid.

Cambridge Women's Aid has provided dedicated and specialist services to women and children affected by domestic abuse since 1977. They have trained workers who are highly experienced, and provide expert confidential support, including:

Safe refuge in Cambridge city
One to one help from our community outreach service, for women living in Cambridge City, South Cambs and East Cambs
Advice for professionals supporting women living in Cambridge City, South Cambs and East Cambs
Support to explore the dynamics of abusive relationships
Dedicated services for children whose mothers/carers we are supporting in the refuge

Come along tomorrow morning for a hot or cold drink (depending on the temperature and how well you are coping in the heat) as well as a variety of gorgeous home made cakes. It's a great opportunity to catch up with friends, take a break from the heat, and support a really worthwhile cause. We look forward to seeing you there!

A long article but if you've got a few minutes I recommend reading it - the message is really important

As a parent to autistic children, Sunita Kapahi Theiss says she has “encountered plenty of unintentional barriers: sensory overload, unspoken behavioral expectations, well-meaning volunteers who didn’t quite know what to do with us.”

In the book “Accessible Church,” Sandra Peoples “clarifies an important matter: Disability is not a monolith. From physical and cognitive disabilities to learning differences, mental health challenges, and trauma histories, the needs—and strengths—of people in this category vary widely.

As an autistic adult, I found this nuance deeply affirming,” writes Theiss. “I know what it feels like to sit in a space that was not built for me—where participation requires performance and the unspoken message is ‘Act normal, and maybe you can stay.’

Peoples envisions a better way: a church that aims higher than simply letting people like me attend. A church, in other words, that expects my attendance and plans for it in advance.

That mindset shift—from accommodation to anticipation—has the power to transform church culture at its roots.”
