We’re well underway with our application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund which, if successful, will help us to fund the repairs we need to the tower. As part of the application, we would love to hear from our followers so we can include some anonymous snippets from our community with our application. How do you feel about the bells being silent? What do you miss? What do you enjoy about hearing the bells ring? Any thoughts you can provide would be warmly received.

A bit of an update for you….

Unfortunately we have some sad news to share. You may have noticed that scaffolding has gone up around the tower in readiness for remedial work to begin. While examining the tower a little more closely, the stonemasons have found the tower to be structurally unsafe and in need of significant disassembly/reassembly. This renders the tower ‘unringable’, so we are not able to ring at all until the tower is made safe. We’ve also had to stop the clock. If any further developments come in, I’ll be sure to let you all know.

Sometimes, when ringing, things don’t go to plan. Stays and ropes can snap, wheels can split and the bells….lets not go there!

Last night’s incident was a new one on me though! The clapper on the third broke in two while we were ringing!

We’ll see what Taylor’s say, but I suspect this will see us replacing the clapper entirely.
