Guys, I have heard time and time again of abuse and mistreating of others,by leaders in the churches. It breaks my heart…… for all concerned!
We teach love and trust and honour…… but so many of us fall short, not just fall short but hurt, damage, traumatise and In short abuse those we care for.
As the church we need to preach against and stop the culture of fame and celebrity leaders….. we are all human and all have temptations and weaknesses…… non of us should or deserve to be out on pedestals.
As leaders we need to be more open and transparent with our failures and what God is teaching us about ourselves…..
years ago someone told me
“ Oh Sue, we could never put you on a pedestal…… your too normal”
GOOD!!! I was never created to be on a pedestal….. nor were you….. nor was your pastor or leader!
We need to hold each other to account…..
I am sure over the years Tim and I have hurt people, made mistakes, got things wrong and have caused damage….. not on purpose, but because we are on a journey, we always encouraged our leaders to come to us and if we did not hear them…. They were to go to other leaders from outside the church…..
We must make sure we protect the people we care for….. even from ourselves sometimes!!
As the church…. We need to learn, to listen, to adjust, to admit failings and continue to grow to be the beautiful bride that Jesus is coming back for.
I pray for each of the victims from this situation, I pray for Mike and all the structures and people around Soul Survivor….. that there would be healing, repentance, reconciliation and forgiveness!!
