Pray with us today.

We thank you, our Father and Mother, for teaching us the value of hope in the midst of the storms that accompany our lives. We thank you for being able to share with the poorest people the hunger and thirst for love that gives meaning to life. From our humble condition as your children, we pray that the wars will end. We beg you to perform one of your miracles of love and wisdom so that armies may be transformed into sowers of peace, justice and fraternity for their countries and for our world.

Thank you for allowing us to be resurrected everyday thanks to the water of new life of the gospel. Amen.

Félix A Posada Rojas, Director of CEPALC, Colombia

Thank you to the steward team for leading the service this morning. The theme was Jesus as the Cornerstone of the Church. The Church in turn is built with living stones which is us. Prayers were written on stone shapes and the different stones were used in the prayer activity. Note how different the stones are, just like us.

Daily prayer

Pray with us today.

Loving God, In all the stories that we tell of our yesterdays, remind us that your grace was always sufficient. In all that we face today, remind us each step of the way that your grace is always sufficient. In all that our tomorrows will bring, reassure us that your grace will always be sufficient. In the familiar and in the unexpected; in the predictable and in the unknown; in the welcome and in the unwelcome; may we look for your grace, see your power perfected in our weakness, and go on our way rejoicing. Amen.

Rachel Deigh, Chair, West Midlands District

We considered Jesus as the Shepherd and the Gate to the sheep fold and the reading was John chapter 10 verses 1 to 10. We need to listen to the Shepherd's voice and be led by him. We are not called to stay in the comfort of the sheep fold otherwise known as church but to be out and about with those around us so we can share the Good News.

"Every path holds stories of those who have walked and talked and reflected on it..."

Olaudah Equiano was born a prince in Nigeria in the 18th century, but was enslaved and sold into the transatlantic traffic in enslaved African people. He eventually bought his own freedom, wrote his story and walked and worked around Britain and many parts of the world as a well-known campaigner for the abolition of slavery - a story it is said that John Wesley was reading on his deathbed.

The Equiano Way is a new pilgrimage between Sheffield and Hull (via Epworth) where you can walk, learn, reflect, and connect with his and other powerful stories along the route.
