Hello everyone, with some recent changes to our volunteers we are sorry to say that we aren't able to run Busy Bunnies this half term. Sorry!

We will be back after the half term though, starting again on the 5th November.

Rarely have so many packed into the church as this week when we said a sad farewell to our beloved Hil. The tributes painted a rich picture of a life dedicated to others in the service of the Lord she loved. Always gentle, welcoming, faithful in prayer and an exceptionally sensitive listener, many counted her as a best friend, and she leaves a massive hole in many hearts, the life of the church, and far beyond.

A wonderfully heart-felt reading of Psalm 139, the beautiful singing of the choir and playing of the musicians lifted the service to another level, and though an intensely sad occasion, it was shot through with hope and a sure conviction that she is now at rest in the Father’s arms.

This Sunday we have a Parish wide service at St Nicholas’ Church, followed by Tea & Cakes when we will be saying thank you as they retire to Pauline after her many years of service in the Parish Office and also to Gill White who has been a Lay Reader in the Parish for many years. There will be no other services in the Parish.

Our readings today covered God's commissioning of the Israelites as his holy people, and the commissioning of the twelve disciples. In his sermon, Patrick remarked that the former seemed much more achievable, but asserted that the latter was achievable too, though only in God's strength.

Our readings today covered the commissioning of the Israelites by God as his holy nation, and Jesus' commissioning of the twelve. Of the two, Patrick suggested in his sermon that the latter seemed much harder, yet was achievable, though only with the help of God.

In his sermon this morning, Revd Mark Rodel drew on the stories of the calling of Matthew, of the woman with an issue of blood, and of the synagogue leader's daughter, and spoke movingly about how in each case, Jesus took time to stop and to see; to see with eyes of love, of mercy and of grace, to restore relationships.
