If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

______ VERSE OF THE WEEK ______

Did you know that Loch Ness in Scotland is the 4th largest body of water in the UK? It falls behind Loch Lomond (also in Scotland), Lower Lough Erne (Northern Ireland) and the MASSIVE Lough Neagh (Northern Ireland). But Loch Ness has the largest volume of water. So much so, that you could take every other Lake, Loch or Lough in the UK, pour it into Loch Ness and it would only just fill it past the halfway point!

Loch Ness is a massive body of water! No wonder Nessie can hide so easily!

Psalm 139 has a similar thought. The writer lists different places to hide or run or escape from God. But recognises that all of those places, God will find us, hold us, reach us. God isn't doing this in some restrictive controlling manner. He cares for us, nurtures us and looks out for us. He loves us as far as the east is from the west (let me tell you - that is forever apart).

So imagine trying to hide your small human frame in the large mass that is Loch Ness. No part of that vast body of water is hidden from the eyes of God, nowhere in it is out of reach from the hand of God.

______ VERSE OF THE WEEK ______

On Sunday, at Thirst, Anastasia (one of our young people) helped us to explored what it meant to be Built for Adventure by God by being built Creative.

We were told how this isn't just something that is for the musicians or the artists in the group but rather as God is a creative God and we are made in his image, we are creative people.

Whether it is using a musical instrument, painting a portrait, knitting a jumper, building a patio, playing with Lego, constructing a house, designing a car, making a hot dog, flying a paper plane... there are tonnes of ways that you might be creative.

Creativity is a gift from the Spirit. And within that, there are different kinds of creative gifts, but it is all the same spirit that distributes them. That means you have been given a creative gift that can be used to glorify God. You may not feel like it, you may not see it in yourself, but God does. He built you that way.

Luke 4:21

______ VERSE OF THE WEEK ______

Do you know your purpose? Do you know what it is that you were made for?

This week's verse has Jesus declaring his purpose at the start of his ministry. He has just spent 40 days in the dessert fasting and being tempted by Satan. He then returns to the temple where it is his turn to do a reading, grabs the part of Isaiah (this book is in the Old Testament, why not check it out too) and reads it aloud to everyone there.

Once he finishes the reading he turns around and says "Today, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." Meaning - "Everything I just read is true for me!"

What was covered in the passage Jesus had just read:
- Being anointed by God's Spirit
- Being sent to proclaim good news to the poor
- Being sent to proclaim freedom for the captives
- Being sent to heal people who are ill
- Being sent to set the oppressed free
- Being sent to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour

This is Jesus' purpose. This is what he goes on to model throughout the rest of Luke, and the other Gospels. And Jesus wants to speak purpose over you too. He wants to release you to your full potential, set you free of the chains that hold you back.

So, what is your purpose? What is God releasing you in to? What would make you say "today - this is fulfilled"?

Not sure what your purpose is? Reach out to us on here or in person and we can help find out together.

______ VERSE OF THE WEEK ______

The other Friday, at WCCYM Discipleship, we launched a new series on how to read the bible. Hopefully equipping everyone there to be able to get closer to God through the wonderful word that He has given us. Part of that included setting everyone the challenge to read through the book of Luke and then the book of Acts over the next few months.

We started by looking at how we can 'meditate' on the passage we are looking at. reading it several times, ask questions of it, listening to what it is trying to tell us and trying to work out where God is in the passage and what He wants us to take away from it.

These are things that we should be storing up, treasuring them in our hearts. As we go on to read more and more of Luke, we will be pondering more and more of what God is saying through this Gospel. And it echoes Mary in chapter 2 of Luke.

As the woman who birthed Jesus after a miraculous encounter with an angel, she treasured and pondered what other people would say about Jesus. When the shepherds visited and said how they met with a group of angels and sent them to the baby; she treasured them in her heart and pondered on them. When Jesus was presented in the temple and old Simeon and Anna both give him spontaneous blessing; Mary treasured them in her heart and pondered them. When Jesus snuck away from his parents to ask questions of the religious elites of the day; Mary treasured these things and pondered them.

We would do well to read and learn about Jesus, treasure those things in our heart and ponder them.

Why not join us in reading Luke and Acts this term!
