Mindset Short Course

Mindset was developed by the Children & Youth Team in partnership with The Salvation Army Addictions Team & Homelessness Services. It’s a course packed with theory and resources that will help you understand how resilience is key in protecting and promoting good mental health.

Each course participant receives a Course Handbook and a Toolkit for working with both 7-11 and 12-16 year-olds. Important note: you must be able to commit to all the dates in the course series before booking.

📣 Training for all Youth Workers

This session is led by David Jenkins from The Salvation Army’s Addictions Department and focuses on the impact of drugs on young people within a centre-based & street-based youth work context.

The training will explore current drug trends, the risks and realities young people face, and how substance use can affect behaviour, wellbeing, and exploitation.

It will also consider the role of youth workers in responding appropriately, building trust, and offering support without judgement.

Starfish Mentor Training

Our second Starfish Mentor Training Course this year has taken place over the past two days at William Booth College in London - with 18 people from all around the UK now trained to mentor children in schools. It’s been a wonderful time of learning, as well as fun, games, and lots of lively conversation.

The Starfish Team agrees that this is a fantastic group of people who are passionate about working with children and young people. We’re thrilled to be sending them out to journey with some of the most vulnerable children and young people in their communities!

Could YOU be a Starfish Mentor?

Our next Starfish Mentor Training Course will run from Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th September (with an online session for co-ordinators on Tuesday 8th Sept).

If you’re interested in becoming a Starfish Mentor and you are already member of (or connected to) a Salvation Army Corps, please make enquiries of your local leadership.
