A lovely day at Mount Zion Methodist Heritage Chapel, welcoming people this afternoon for quiet reflection in the grounds and then this evening for a wonderful talk by David Glover, focusing on music and song in 19th century Calderdale. Thank you everyone who helped make this a special day.

Don't forget that Wednesday 27th May is the date for the last of David Glover's spring Mount Zion Methodist Heritage Chapel heritage talks. He'll be back in the autumn for more. This time he will focus on music and song in Calderdale. Including the 'Big Sings', so popular with Methodist chapels (Mount Zion was no exception). We will have some 19th century 'Big Sing' programmes, musical scores and lyrics on display and a sample of 18th and early 19th century hand written music for you to peruse. It may be a bit chilly, but spring has definitely arrived at Mount Zion Methodist Heritage Chapel.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this afternoon for Stories from Stones. It was lovely to see the chapel full once again. What a super event. Many thanks to Mary Thomson and Cathy Sara for 'gifting' their time and creativity (the Mount Zion poems will be on the website soon). All proceeds will help to support Mount Zion. Final rehearsals and sound check completed. We are all ready to welcome you tomorrow for ‘Stories from Stones’ featuring Mary Thomson and Cathy Sara. It’s sounding great. If you are intending joining us for this event, please PARK responsibly and avoid blocking our neighbours drives. Thank you!

Last week we took custody of a lovely new font for our collection. Sadly Marsh Methodist Chapel, in Oxenhope is closing and they kindly asked if we would take care of their font and provide it with a new home. Here it is settling in nicely. Many thanks to Trudie and friends for allowing Mount Zion to be its custodians.
