This is Christian Aid Week - please join us in raising money for people across the globe who are facing hardship and hunger.

This Christian Aid Week, we're supporting families facing hunger in Nairobi. Parents like Fridah are growing food in small city spaces so their children can eat. With tools, seeds and training, families can plan for the future. Please give what you can this Christian Aid Week.

Fabulous event up at S. Margaret’s next weekend

Next Saturday 2nd May, 2.30pm - 3.30pm FREE TALK! With acclaimed published fiction author Georgina Clarke!

Followed by free refreshments. All are welcome, why not bring a friend (or a book to be signed!)

Many of you may remember Georgina as she was team vicar in our parish a few years back 🙂

From the Golden Age to current day, crime fiction has drawn upon Christian stories and themes such as justice, redemption, innocence, and the prophetic voice; and of course some of these books even feature a clerical detective. Georgina Clarke the acclaimed author of the Lizzie Hardwicke mysteries set in 18th century London and The Dazzle of the Light – which was inspired by the Forty Thieves, a gang of notorious female thieves in East London – will be talking about her novels, faith in crime fiction and also what religious people – vicars, priests, monks and nuns – actually do and why they might make good sleuths.

As well as an author, Clarke – as Georgina Byrne – has been a priest since 1998, and variously a vicar, bishop’s chaplain, director of ordinands, and Worcester cathedral canon, and currently teaches Christian doctrine and contextual theology at The Queen’s Foundation, an ecumenical theological college in Birmingham.

Tomorrow morning, 10.30 - 12 noon… a little breathing space as we prepare to begin Holy Week

Quiet time at S. Margaret’s, with guided reflection and space to “be”… continuing our Lent theme of coming home; coming home to God, coming home to ourselves. Learning to see, knowing ourselves seen.

All are welcome. Come for the whole time or pop in and out a little… it’s your time, God’s time… let Love touch you in the midst of all that life brings.

(The tree, incidentally, is in Cardiff. In Bute park. Where one winter night a light shone on an ordinary tree in winter. Bare and leafless, blossom simply a lost memory …. And it shone with glory, and pattern, and delicate intricacy, and … remembered its past as a Bush that Blazed and Was Not Consumed… it’s all about how you see and Whose Light you see in)

Please don’t miss your opportunity to engage with this - our Cathedral are struggling financially, and considering charging entry. Please watch the video if you can. And please fill in the short survey, to share your views and enable them to make the best decision

Please also consider popping down to the cathedral - enjoy it, pray there, light a candle, explore their events, support them in any way you can. Let’s keep this beautiful and special place available for all people, for every generation

Bishop Hugh's service of welcome

On Saturday 17 January at 2pm we will be welcoming Bishop Hugh to the Diocese as he starts his ministry among us. All are welcome to this special service in the Cathedral.
We hope that the service will be a celebration of the life of our diocese, with involvement of people of all ages from different parishes. During the service, Bishop Hugh will be installed into his Cathedral seat and presented with the robes of the Bishop of Worcester. It will also be a chance to pray for Hugh as we worship together.

Do bring a group of people from your parish to come and celebrate the arrival our new Bishop and the ongoing life of our diocese.

Bishop Hugh said: "I can't wait to meet many of you on 17 January. Do come along for what I hope will be a great celebration of the life of the Church in this glorious diocese over the generations past and into God's hope filled future."

Clergy and Readers are welcome to robe (choir dress) and should email Fleur in the Bishop's Office by Monday 15 December if they would like to do this. ([email protected]).

Halloween Tomorrow!!!
… if you’re out trick or treating, or you just fancy popping out to drop into us, then do drop in as you pass and have some fun together. Pumpkins, candles, sweets and hot chocolate with some little activities and gifts. All free… a little light in the darkness 🙂 🎃

Halloween is an ancient part of the Christian Faith - the day of darkness and ghouls and evil shadows which precedes All Saints Day - the day of light! We can stare down the ghosts and demons, because we have the Light of Love to walk in together 😍
